UAE attracts AED 177.3bln in FDI inflows in 2025
Ranked 9th globally as a destination for inbound FDI with total stock of AED 1.171 trillion
O
ne of the world’s leading destinations for foreign direct investment, the United Arab Emirates attracted US$48.3 billion (AED177.3 billion) in inbound FDI in 2025, marking a fourth consecutive year of record inflows and a 6% increase compared to the previous year. According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) World Investment Report, the UAE now ranks ninth globally for inbound foreign direct investment. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stated: “According to the latest World Investment Report, the UAE continues to solidify its status as a global destination for investment and opportunities. In 2025, we attracted a record AED 177.3 billion in FDI inflows, recording a 6% growth, while FDI stock grew to AED 1.17 trillion.” His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid added: “The UAE ranked ninth globally among destinations for inbound FDI and maintained for the third consecutive year its second place globally by greenfield projects with a total of 1,562 projects.” His Highness concluded: “Our goal is to increase FDI stock to AED 2.2 by 2031 and attract an annual AED 240 billion of FDI inflows. These figures are not merely economic indicators, but the outcome of a national vision, the dedication of a unified team and the global trust placed in a nation that turns ambition into reality and opportunities into achievements. The report frames this consistency as a reflection of the enduring confidence global investors place in the UAE’s longterm vision, its policy choices, and the frameworks that underpin its investment environment, with results reflecting the targets of the National Investment Strategy 2031. His Excellency Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, said: “The UAE’s investment story continued to gather momentum in 2025. Over the past years, the UAE’s consistency in attracting record levels of FDI inflows – expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 24%

between 2021 and 2025 - has reflected the strength of the choices we have made as a nation. What makes 2025 a distinctive year is not only the scale of inbound capital, but its composition. Investment continued to diversify across sectors, deepening in quality and broadening in geographic origin. We are committed to strengthening confidence in this trajectory by continuing to advance our policies and regulations, reducing barriers to entry, improving our operating environment, and expanding our global partnerships. Looking ahead, the National Investment Strategy sets a clear direction through 2031: to consolidate our position among the world’s leading investment destinations, and to achieve US$ 65 billion (AED 240 billion) in annual FDI inflows.”
UAE Space Agency signs agreement with New York University Abu Dhabi to support research on Emirates Mars Mission A significant milestone toward expanding the utilisation of the mission’s scientific data in advancing studies about Mars
O
ne of the leading initiatives supporting space research and scientific innovation, the UAE Space Agency and New York University Abu Dhabi signed a sponsorship agreement to support the research project, “Studies of the Martian Atmosphere and Surface with the Emirates Mars Mission.” The agreement marks an important step toward expanding the use of the mission’s scientific data to advance research on Mars and reflects the Agency’s continued commitment to supporting advanced studies in planetary and space sciences. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, DirectorGeneral of the UAE Space Agency, Fabio Piano, Vice Chancellor, NYU Abu Dhabi and Marta Losada, Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Research and Senior Vice Provost for Research, NYU Abu Dhabi, along with several officials and employees from both organisations.
NYU Abu Dhabi Interim Vice Chancellor Fabio Piano said: “This agreement with the UAE Space Agency reflects our shared commitment to advancing scientific discovery through research, innovation, and collaboration. The support provided through this partnership will strengthen the work of NYU Abu Dhabi’s Center for Astrophysics and Space Science, leveraging the extraordinary scientific data generated by the Emirates Mars Mission, and supporting the UAE’s vision in space exploration, scientific research, and innovation.” The agreement aims to support the research project: Studies of the Martian Atmosphere and Surface with the Emirates Mars Mission, enabling more utilisation of the mission’s data and its application in the
development of research related to Mars. Furthermore, the agreement supports the objectives of the UAE Space Agency and the National Space Strategy 2031. This strategy seeks to advance the ecosystem of science, technology, and innovation, strengthen the UAE’s position in the space sector regionally and globally, and reinforce its role as a key contributor to advanced scientific research. This agreement underscores national efforts to nurture academic and scientific partnerships, and to leverage the outcomes of the UAE’s space missions to support research and development. These efforts contribute to reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in space sciences and enhancing its role in advanced scientific knowledge
Al Qubaisi affirmed that this agreement reflects the Agency’s commitment to advancing scientific research in space exploration and leveraging the scientific data generated by the Emirates Mars Mission to contribute to global knowledge. Al Qubaisi said: “Our partnership with New York University Abu Dhabi reflects the UAE’s commitment to investing in scientific talent and enabling research that delivers meaningful contributions to our understanding of Mars. As the Emirates Mars Mission enters its extended phase through 2028, we remain focused on maximizing the mission’s scientific return, advancing knowledge of the Martian atmosphere, and building a sustainable space ecosystem driven by innovation, research, and national capabilities.”
