Considering the achievements to date and growing catalogue of products, it is hard to believe that this operation began with brand representation from only two suppliers of medical disposable items and as a one-woman operation through its Founder and Managing Director, Mrs. Myrtis Boothe.

Today, under the stewardship of CEO Kurt Boothe, MDS remains a trusted Distribution Company with a growing product range that has expanded to include the areas of pharmaceuticals and consumer goods. This expansion has been accompanied by a healthy dose of co-distributor partnerships and sub-distributorship agreements. Kurt is responsible for leading his over 100-member strong team at MDS Ltd., to listing on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange in December 2013, during his tenure as General Manager of the Company.

MDS continues to expand and diversify in line with the company's long-term growth objective.

WINSTON BOOTHE Chairman

With over 40 years of experience as a corporate executive, Mr. Boothe offers an impressive business acumen, financial expertise and an expansive network in the business realm. He is the immediate past Senior Vice President of the Port Authority of Jamaica where he served for 19 years until September 2013, shouldering responsibilities in the areas of Corporate Planning, Finance, Administration, Operations and Information Services.

Prior to this, he was the Group Vice President of the Jamaica Broilers Group of Companies, served on the Board of the Petroleum Company of Jamaica, and was the Chairman of Wincorp Nutritional Holdings in Florida.

Mrs. Sandra Glasgow is one of Jamaica’s distinguished business leaders who has made invaluable contributions to the corporate landscape. She is the Founder and Managing Director of BizTactics Limited, a privately held consulting company. Prior to this, she held the post of Chief Executive Officer at the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica and spent the two preceding decades in executive positions at the University of Technology Jamaica. She is currently a Director of the NCB Group.

With over 50 years of experience as a civil and geotechnical engineer, Dr. Lawrence has become widely recognized as a skilled negotiator, who has played a pivotal role in the engineering community and has exhibited a strong commitment to national service. He is presently the Executive Chairman of Jentech Consultants Ltd and Chairman of the Financial Board of the Diocese of Ja and the Cayman Islands.

Former board memberships include his posts as Chairman of the Urban Development Corporation, Chairman of the Bauxite & Alumina Trading Company of Ja Ltd, and of the Ja Bauxite Mining Company Ltd, Deputy Chairman of the Petroleum Corporation of Ja, Deputy Chairman of the National Investment Bank of Ja, Director of the Montego Bay Freeport Ltd, Director of the Ja Pegasus Ltd, and Executive Chairman of Air Ja Ltd.

Dr. McDaniel Dickson adds an essential dimension to the MDS Board through her strong command of the pharmaceutical industry from both academia and business perspectives. Her contagious fervour for the discipline helps to ensure output of the highest standard with an outlook supported by intelligent industry specific applications.

Dr. McDaniel-Dickson is a registered pharmacist for over 30 years with a Doctorate of Public Health from the University of London. She is the owner of two thriving pharmacies, a proprietor of a medical clinic and a past author of her weekly “Pharmacy Works” column in the Gleaner - the island’s leading daily news publication.

With over 50 years of passionate and extensive medical experience, Mrs. Boothe has provided invaluable contributions to the Company through her immense product knowledge, first-hand understanding of the health sector, expansive industry network and dedication to patient care.

A registered nurse by profession with training from the University Hospital of the West Indies, Mrs. Boothe has practiced at the National Chest Hospital as Ward Administrator and has served as In-service Education Officer at the Ministry of Health. She transitioned to the business of health through an 11-year management career at Cari-Med Limited before forming MDS Ltd. in 1999.

Kurt Boothe’s financial acumen, intimate familiarity with best practices beyond our shores, and openness to the application of modern solutions to business challenges, are welcomed additions to the skill sets of the Company.

Mr. Boothe has served as a Non-Executive Director of the Petroleum Company of Jamaica. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a specialty in Banking and Finance, and an M.B.A. with concentration in Entrepreneurship from the Wayne Huizenga School of Business at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

While in Florida, he worked as a Financial Advisor with American Express Advisors and registered with the New York Stock Exchange, the National Association of Security Dealers and the Florida Department of Insurance.

He was also a member of the Franklin Templeton Investments team as a portfolio administrator.

DIRECTORS Nikeisha Boothe graduated with honours from the University of Miami, where she earned a B.A. in International Marketing and Finance. She furthered her studies at the Mona School of Business (University of the West Indies), where she received an M.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing. Her roles as Marketing Executive at Dunlop Corbin Communications and Brand Manager at Restaurant Associates Limited, have provided her with an in-depth knowledge of advertising, media, production, public relations, event planning, consumer behaviour, budget management and financial marketing.

Mr. Murray’s career in the medical field began in 1991 at Cari-Med Ltd. During his professional career, he has enjoyed varying roles including that of Sales Representative, Medical Representative, North Caribbean Sales Manager for Apotex Inc., Pharma Sales Supervisor and Medical Representative for Schering Plough Caribe.

Mr. manning leads the buildout of the Consumer Division in keeping with MDS' strategic growth initiatives.

Prior to joining the MDS team, Mr. Manning excelled as the Commercial Manager of Suntory Limited - a global leader in consumer packaged goods. He also worked as Route-to-Market Manager at Wisynco Group Limited, where he oversaw the expansion of the points of distribution across all segments of the trade.

Mrs. McDonald has direct responsibility for the Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL) line. She guides the DRLspecific Sales Team and manages the Medical Division to optimise business outcomes. She also manages the development of brand building strategies and product growth approaches.

Mr. Ernandez shoulders the responsibility of all the company’s financial functions, including accounting, audit, and corporate finance. His career spans more than 26 years of varied experience across industries. He is an experienced Group Financial Controller with a track record of success in the Banking, Finance and Logistics sectors.

Mrs. Banton has a wealth of experience partnering with executive teams and general staff to build strategic, peoplefocused human resources policies. She currently holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration, a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources and is pursuing the Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional Certification.

Mr. Gordon has oversight responsibilities for inventory, warehousing, delivery fleet and all operational functions related to company facilities. Mr. Gordon is an experienced supply chain manager with a demonstrated history of working in the logistics and supply chain industry.

Ms. Montaque holds a Master of Science Degree in Logistics Engineering and a B.Sc. in Business Administration with a major in Finance. Her professional background includes 20 years of service in the areas of distribution, logistics and inventory management.

Pharmaceutical Consumer

MEDICAL This division is comprised of a team that focuses on sales, as well as product detailing and promotion to medical professionals. Within the divison, there is specialized support for technical areas such as vaccines, dialysis and injectable medications. We provide island wide service to hospitals, medical centres, clinics, specialists, physicians and other institutions.

PHARMACEUTICAL MDS represents global leaders in the pharmaceutical arena which include industry innovators, as well as branded generic drug houses.

We offer a range of products for general ailments, vaccines, injectables, and treatments for special conditions such as oncology products.

MDS provides coverage to all registered pharmacies islandwide.

CONSUMER Our Consumer Division is supported by two sales conduits - the first is comprised of our dedicated Consumer Sales personnel who are experienced in mass retailing channels, while the other utilises our Pharmaceutical network.

The Consumer portfolio spans various categories including Beauty, Home Care, Candy & Snacks, Baby among others.

SUBSIDIARY Cornwall Enterprises Limited (CEL) was acquired by MDS in 2021.

The company is a distributor of medical & disposable items as well as dental products islandwide.

The retail division is comprised of three (3) pharmacies under the Corn-med brand – two of which are located in Montego Bay, St. James and one in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland

The genesis of MDS was born out of a passion to assist persons needing to make their lives healthier and happier. Our reason for being is not mainly guided by financial reward, but also to make a healthy difference in the lives of those we serve. Our confidence in this purpose-led business rests in the knowledge “that He who has begun a good work …will carry it on to completion.”
