Dear Mater Dei Family, Greetings from the Mater Dei campus! As of press time, we are in the middle of the 2022-23 school year but reflecting on the spring semester from last year. And, what a semester it was!

This issue’s cover story (page 6-7) features our Heisman Homecoming Celebration from May 2022. It was truly a momentous day to have our THREE Heismen come home. We hope you appreciate the photos that captured the spirit of our special celebration.

On pages 8 – 17, we are honored to thank our donors from the 2021-22 school year and report on the impact they had on our school community. Each year, the volume of donors continues to grow. This helps further our reach in support of the incredible students we are privileged to serve. Thank you for the difference you make for Mater Dei High School!

In our Honor, Glory, Love section, see how our students channeled their passion for dodgeball into a force for good. You’ll also meet Irving Chase, a longtime guest speaker to the AP US History classes, who has shared his family’s experience as Holocaust survivors.

Our Current Student section features photo essays of our student artists, athletes, and some great shots from the Class of 2022’s commencement. As we began our summer break, we learned that THREE of our female athletes would be included in a commemorative issue of Sports Illustrated celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. See the cover, inside spread, and the details of how this came to be on page 24.

We close out our issue with some images from recent class reunions. It is truly wonderful seeing our alumni staying connected to their alma mater and each other. Alumni, be sure to join Mater Dei Connect, our new alumni platform just for Monarchs. Join today at materdeiconnect.org to view job and mentoring opportunities, reunion and event information, and reconnect with classmates.

As we embark on this New Year, know how thankful we are to have YOU as a member of this special Mater Dei family and our shared bond in Honor, Glory, and Love. Mater Dei is nearing its 75th anniversary in 2025! How far we have come since our inception as a small high school of 150 students nestled between dairy and cabbage farms back in 1950. Planning is already underway for a celebration fitting of this milestone as well as a strategic plan to fortify the future of our school. Stay tuned for updates!

2022 RING OF HONOR INDUCTEES

The Ring of Honor seeks to recognize individuals who have achieved various levels of recognition through their church, school, community or professional life. The Ring of Honor aims to bring the entire Mater Dei community together to celebrate our school, give thanks and recognize people who have made Mater Dei such a great place to learn and grow. The Ring of Honor debuted in May 2001 at the 50th Anniversary Golden Gala. Honorees names are displayed on the outside wall of the school’s chapel and on our website. On Tuesday, June 7, at our Annual Donor Appreciation Dinner, we celebrated the 2022 Ring of Honor Inductees: Sandy Barker ‘83, Lou and Nancy Stremick, and Honorable Maurice “Mo” Sanchez ‘74.

Sandy Barker ‘83 (pictured second from left with her husband and two children) is president and co-founder of the Gold Rush Cure Foundation (GRCF), a 501c3 non-profit organization that supports children with cancer and their siblings through their “Pot of Gold” custom gifting program. GRCF was established in memory of Sandy’s late son, Christian, who passed away at 14 years old to a rare form of Leukemia. Sandy is also an advocate for continued cancer research and therapies. Since 2007, she has made over 30 trips to Washington, D.C. as a voice for children with cancer. Within her MD family, she helped a fellow ‘83 classmate’s son locate a 3.5 million-to-one life saving donor match during the pandemic when screenings were nearly impossible.

Lou and Nancy Stremick (pictured center with their children and grandchildren) are both grateful Catholic school graduates and have continued that tradition for their children and grandchildren. The Stremicks support numerous Catholic causes, churches, and schools throughout Orange County and in their native Portland, OR. They are also active benefactors with CHOC Hospital, the Norbertine Sisters of Tehachapi, and the OC Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation where they received the Breath of Life Award. Their generosity at MD to need-based financial aid, campus ministry, and several athletic programs has directly benefited thousands of students. The family founded Stremicks Heritage Foods which reflects Lou and Nancy’s commitment to quality, integrity, and high standards of excellence.

Honorable Maurice “Mo” Sanchez ‘74 (pictured center with his wife and daughter) is a proud Catholic school graduate and native of Santa Ana. In January 2022, he was sworn in as an associate justice of the Fourth District Court of Appeal’s Santa Ana Division making him the first Latino and person of color to serve on the Appellate Court’s Division 3. In his 40+ year career, Justice Sanchez represented motor vehicle manufacturers and distributors in litigation and transactional matters nationwide, focusing on market representation and dealer disputes. He generously supports organizations promoting education, including the Mater Dei’s Mock Trial Team and UCI’s Saturday Academy of Law. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Sanchez served on numerous charitable and professional boards.

Congratulations, Sandy, Lou and Nancy, and Justice Sanchez for this much-deserved recognition! We commend you for your accomplishments and for making the world a better place. Thank you for your love and loyalty to Mater Dei over the years. Nominations for the 2023 Ring of Honor are open now at www.materdei.org/RingofHonor

FROM MAY CROWNING TO MARIAN MASS

In its 73 year history, the Mater Dei campus has grown and changed significantly. However, the one constant at the center of campus has been our Patroness - Mary, Mater Dei. She was originally located at the center of the Grotto, which the earliest Monarchs called “the patio” or the “courtyard.” In the 1990s, when the Grotto was transformed to the park-like atmosphere we know and love today, Mary was moved to a new concrete and brick “stage” near the main office and choral music classroom (formerly the library). The statue’s official title is “Our Lady of Grace” and she was gifted to the school by the Young Ladies’ Institute of Orange County during its dedication in June of 1951. Each May, Monarchs across the generations have crowned Mary in celebration of her love, intercession, and for being our daily inspiration.

Initially called the “May Crowning,” it is now known as the Annual Marian Mass. The tradition has grown to not only celebrate our Patroness, but to also honor and acknowledge employees’ years of service, marriage milestones within our MD family, and gratitude for the dedication of school volunteers. A decade of the Rosary is said in 10 different languages by students and faculty in recognition of our community’s vibrant culture. Marian Mass also marks the “official changing of the guard” as our senior ASB leaders officially turn the reins over to the newly-elected juniors. We held our Annual Marian Mass on Thursday, May 19, 2022. It was Fr. Anthony Bautista’s last all-school Mass before he returned to the Philippines. He was joined by Fr. John Weling ‘72, Ring of Honor Inductee and Past President of Mater Dei, and Monsignor Doug Cook ‘85, Pastor Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Newport Beach.

HEISMAN HOMECOMING

Mater Dei High School was honored to celebrate Heisman Homecoming on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. The student body, faculty, staff, and special guests packed the Meruelo Athletic Center for this momentous, historic day. Bryce Young ‘20, the 2021 Recipient of the Heisman Trophy from the University of Alabama was welcomed home and celebrated with his fellow alumni and Heisman Trophy winners, John Huarte ‘61 (University of Notre Dame, 1964) and Matt Leinart ‘01 (University of Southern California, 2004).

Coach Bruce Rollinson ‘67 shared his excitement: “I’ve had many landmark moments in my career including national championships. This historical Heisman celebration is at the top. To sit amongst these three great Monarchs knowing that I had the privilege to coach two of them is a powerful, humbling moment in my career. A student-athlete like Bryce Young is the reason why we get into coaching. His talents go far beyond the football field. He has left a lasting legacy in our football program.”

Mater Dei was honored by the incredible support of the Heisman Trust. They recognized the significance of a high school celebrating such a milestone.

“Millions of student-athletes have played high school football throughout history, but only 85 individuals have won the coveted Heisman Memorial Trophy. Mater Dei High School amazingly has produced three Heisman Trophy winners, which speaks volumes about its athletic excellence. Bryce, Matt, and John are exceptional representatives of the Heisman Trophy Fraternity,” stated Rob Whalen, Executive Director of The Heisman Trophy Trust. “We are honored to share in Mater Dei’s pride by recognizing the accomplishments of these three outstanding Heisman Trophy winners.”

6
The foyer case in the Meruelo Athletic Center was updated for the occasion complete with three Heisman trophies, retired MD football jerseys and helmets representing the University of Notre Dame, University of Southern California, and the University of Alabama. As of May 2022

Always known for his kindness on and off the field,

took a moment to greet some special Future Monarchs.

7
Jacob Sanders ‘23 (center) was the unanimous winner of the “show us your Heisman pose” contest and was excited for his photo op. John Huarte connects with MD President Michael Brennan while his granddaughter Emma ‘22 looks on. The Grotto is a special place to all MD alumni. It is also an important part of the traditions within the MD Football Program. Matt, Bryce, and John took a moment before the celebration in the Meruelo Athletic Center to visit with our Patroness, Mary Mater Dei and one another. Bryce and Coach Bruce Rollinson caught up in the Grotto. Any guesses on how much a Heisman Trophy weighs? Bryce

MATCHING GIFT COMPANIES

If your company sponsors a matching gift program, you can easily increase the impact your gift will have on students, faculty, and programs at Mater Dei. Most participating companies will match employee gifts dollar for dollar. Some will even double or triple-match a gift! Check with your HR department for your company’s Matching Gift procedures. Complete your company’s matching form and send to Mater Dei with your donation. If matching registration is online, e-mail the matching confirmation number to mcraft@materdei.org. Your company will send the matching gift after Mater Dei verifies your request.

MEMORIAL AND HONORARY FUNDS

Over the years, the menu of memorial and honorary funds established at Mater Dei has greatly increased, extending the volume of support we provide our current students while honoring the life of a loved one who was passionate about a Mater Dei education. Through the Mater Dei Monarch Foundation, the memory and legacy of the funds’ namesake will live into perpetuity through our endowment. In this year’s impact report, we are pleased to highlight two special funds. For more information about our memorial and honorary fund giving program, please contact Kathleen Kelly ‘94, Director of Alumni & Legacy Relations at (714) 850-9536 or kkelly@materdei.org.

THE ANTHONY MICHAEL BARAJAS FOUNDATION

On July 31, 2021, Anthony Barajas tragically passed away at the very young age of 19. He was a loving son, brother, and generous friend. A second generation Monarch who had multiple family members come through Mater Dei, Anthony was a passionate member of the Mater Dei family and made his own contributions to our tradition of excellence. He was a standout athlete, artist, and leader. He was a member of the boys soccer team and was named MVP. Anthony loved to sing and was King of the Annual Madrigal Feast in the Choral Music Program. Upon graduation from Mater Dei, Anthony was honored as the Male Monarch of the Year.

Through their faith and with support of the MD community, the Barajas family channeled their grief by establishing the Anthony Michael Barajas Foundation. Anthony’s daily actions created a pattern of kindness that impacted others’ lives for the better. The Foundation intends to spread the love he so often gave to others. Brian ‘93 and Catherine Barajas ‘90 recently presented the inaugural Acts of Kindness Scholarship to Lauren Lee ‘25 and Zach Quattrocchi ‘23 (pictured left). Visit anthonymichaelbarajasfoundation.org for more information or to make a contribution.

THE JAMES AND DOROTHY CHAPMAN MEMORIAL FUND

Longtime Santa Ana resident and proud Mater Dei and St. Anne (Santa Ana) alumna, Carol Chapman Cox ‘65, established the James and Dorothy Chapman Family fund with her six siblings in honor of their beloved parents (pictured left). The Chapmans believed in the importance of a Catholic education for their children and sacrificed to give them that gift. Carol also worked hard to provide a Mater Dei education to her two sons who graduated in 1989 and 1992.

The values of giving back and paying it forward were instilled in the Chapman children at a young age by James and Dorothy. After Mater Dei, Carol became a pediatric intensive care RN at CHOC Hospital. In addition to being an active volunteer and benefactor at her alma maters, Carol still gives her time at CHOC even after retirement.

The Chapman Fund provides need-based financial aid for students from St. Anne’s Catholic School in Santa Ana accepted for admission to Mater Dei High School. “Chapman Scholars” must graduate from St. Anne prior to enrollment at Mater Dei and must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher during their high school years. Since the fund was created in 2016, the Chapmans have enjoyed supporting two scholars.

“It was important to us to honor our parents’ memory and ensure that a deserving St. Anne student can continue his or her Catholic education at Mater Dei High School. It’s our little contribution to the world that means so much to our family. I know our parents would be proud of this legacy,” said Carol.

HONOR GLORY LOVE STUDENT DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT RAISES $10K FOR UKRAINE

Each year during Lent, Mater Dei students are called to support the Lenten Outreach. Over the years, the school has supported various charities and initiatives from Wells of Life to local charities in need during the earliest part of the pandemic. This year, Mater Dei students were inspired to support the people of Ukraine.

Under the direction of ASB student leaders Jacob Stephen, Andrew Leveque, Caroline Parsons, and Charlie Pawsat, a grassroots campaign was created for the 6-week Lenten Season. The campaign included a class donation competition and a weekly dodgeball tournament comprised of 32 teams of 6+ students mixed by grades. Spectators of the tournament paid a $1 entry fee to watch the fun. The Dodgeball Tournament finals took place during the Senior Goodbye rally just before the Class of 2022’s graduation. Tournament proceeds went directly to the Lenten Outreach for Ukraine.

On Tuesday, May 17, Msgr. Stephen Doktorczyk, then-Vicar General of the Diocese of Orange, visited the Mater Dei campus. The student leaders pictured below presented him with a check for the Diocese of Sosnowiec, Poland, which has become a place of refuge for thousands of Ukrainian people. We commend the student leaders of Mater Dei High School, the faculty, staff, administration, and parents for their support of this incredible cause.

“I’m really proud of the initiative our students took in organizing this outreach. It was kind of grassroots and organic and it just took off,” said Jeanette Costa, Executive Director of Student Activities. “Our kids were really affected by the news of the war, and they were motivated to try to help in any way they could. The dodgeball tournament was completely their idea. They believed students would support it and would want to come together after so many gatherings have been limited the past few years. They were right and we are so proud of them.”

MEET IRVING CHASE – HONORARY TEACHER AND FRIEND OF MD

Some of the best life lessons are not found in a textbook, but rather in the relationships and experiences we have through the power of human connection. In 1980 when Mrs. Laurie Rollinson met her then neighbor Irving “Irv” Chase, she never imagined their friendship would impact thousands of Monarchs enrolled in her AP US History class. For 40 years, Irv has generously given his time as a guest speaker sharing about the life and legacy of his parents Sol and Fay Chase (Chatinsky), who survived the Holocaust as young children.

After meeting Irv’s parents and discovering they were survivors of the Holocaust, Mrs. Rollinson asked if they would speak to her classes. They respectfully declined, but Irv stepped up on their behalf and has done so every year (except 2020 due to COVID). “They never spoke publicly and rarely privately about their Holocaust experiences,” Irv said.

Irv’s commitment to telling his parents’ Holocaust story and his friendship with the Rollinsons has kept him coming back year after year. He has also been impressed by the students’ attentiveness, warm welcome, and interest in his story.

In addition to the gift of his time, Irv has also become an MD benefactor. “The combination of speaking to Laurie’s history classes and hearing the positive stories about Coach’s football players has made me an MD friend and supporter,” Irv shared. When he wears MD attire around Orange County, Irv shared that “countless individuals ask me about my Mater Dei connection and it’s great to hear about their child’s experience and the life lessons gained both on and off the field.”

Thank you, Irv for being a part of the MD family and for the special aspect you have added to Mrs. Rollinson’s AP US History for four decades.

“The Holocaust is hard to understand when you use statistics. The numbers are simply harrowing. 6.5 million Jews were murdered. 24,000 were gassed and incinerated daily in Auschwitz. I try to ‘personalize’ the Holocaust by telling my mother and father’s story by using family photographs. I hope to make the events real and relate anti-Semitism to any hate so students understand what hate can accomplish,” Irv said.

THREE FEMALE ATHLETES FEATURED IN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED

Title IX is landmark civil rights legislation enacted in 1972 prohibiting discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX, Mater Dei High School was honored to have three female athletes featured in a commemorative issue of Sports Illustrated in June 2022. Featured on the cover are Jada Ward ‘22 (Girls Water Polo) and Emma Thipavong ‘23 (Girls Golf). Camden Joko ‘22 (Girls Basketball) is featured in the inside cover story.

Mrs. Jessica Perry ‘01, Associate Director of Athletics, received a request from Sports Illustrated to submit photos for consideration for this celebratory issue. “After digging through thousands of photos, I submitted over 70 and hoped they would at least pick one,” she shared. “I was blown away when they picked THREE! [Seeing the cover] was definitely a great day to be a Monarch. It was a moment of pure exhilaration and pride for our school and for the three girls. How many athletes get to say, ‘I have been on the cover of Sports Illustrated!’”

To be included among the female sports icons and future stars of tomorrow was truly an honor and testament to the

excellence of female athletics at Mater Dei – and a reminder of how far we have come. While Mater Dei has had a storied history in athletics, once upon a time, female athletes were relegated to practicing and competing outside because male sports took priority. But that didn’t deter our Lady Monarchs!

Mater Dei is proud of the accomplishments of all our student athletes. Did you know that our girls’ sports teams hold some records worth noting? Three of Mater Dei’s Five Gatorade Players of the Year are female: Tia Bollinger Meza ‘00 (Softball), Kaleena Mosqueda Lewis ‘11 (Girls Basketball), and Katie Lou Samuelson ‘15 (Girls Basketball). To date, the girls outrank the boys in the total number of CIF championships.

“As a school, we evolve with the times and understand that women can lead in all areas of sports,” said Perry. “Today, I have a daughter that gets to see her mama work in sports. During my time as a student-athlete at Mater Dei, I was inspired by the women working in sports and coaching long hours (some while pregnant). My hope is that I can continue to inspire the next generation of female athletes to realize ‘if you can see it, you can be it.’”

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENT ELECTED TO STUDENT STATE SENATE

In April 2022, Santiago Canyon College (SCC) announced that Ryan Foley ‘22, a dual enrollment student from Mater Dei and Santiago Canyon College, was elected to the Student Senate for California Community Colleges to serve as the Vice President of Finance. Ryan successfully maintained a 4.0+ GPA while taking classes at SCC and by the end of his senior year was nearly complete with course requirements to earn an Associate’s Degree.

Dr. Pamela Ralson, SCC President shared, “Ryan’s success in the election for a seat on the SSCCC board is particularly noteworthy because of his age and the sheer competition of the students vying for a seat at the table with the highly engaged SSCCC. We are thrilled to congratulate Ryan and are committed to supporting his efforts at the State level.”

Mr. David Taylor also offered his congratulations to this exceptional student. “As the Vice President of Business Services at Mater Dei High School, I’m very pleased that Ryan Foley has been elected as the new Vice President of Finance for the California Community College system. This is an amazing accomplishment for Ryan and I have no doubt that he will bring his enthusiasm and passion to this position that represents over 2.1 million California Community College students.”

SENIOR’S AWARD-WINNING BOOK IMPACTS LOCAL CHARITIES

Angelina Lyon ‘22 has always been drawn to express herself through the arts, whether that be through dancing, drawing, or even writing. Lyon was a member of the Mater Dei Dance team all four years and was co-captain of the team during her junior and senior year. “My mom inspired me to start dancing,” Lyon said. “She was a dancer herself. She put me in dance classes when I was really little, and I’ve been dancing ever since.”

Outside of dance, Lyon is involved in an organization called “Emagination (sic) Island,” a group of kids and teens who explore and share causes they are passionate about through creative outlets such as books, podcasts, and website. Over the last four years, Lyon wrote and illustrated, Biscuit and Buttercup Lend a Fin, an awardwinning children’s book about the issue of plastic ocean pollution.

“I wrote [my book] to spread awareness about ocean pollution. I hope to teach kids and their parents by breaking down the issue a bit more,” Lyon said. “It originally started as a chapter book. As I was writing it, I thought a poem or shorter style book would be better for the age range I was targeting.”

Lyon was honored with multiple awards including the Gold Award in Interactive & Multimedia category in the 2021 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest. Lyon was selected for the award out of 6,000 recipients worldwide.

“I would say publishing my book and also winning a few awards from it [is the accomplishment I am most proud of from my high school career],” Lyon said. She continues to make a positive impact on her community with Biscuit and Buttercup Lend a Fin, which is available for purchase at http://angelinalyon.com/shop-for-good.

ALL proceeds from book sales benefit charities that support kids and teens in the community.

FACULTY & STAFF

FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: MRS. SIDRA BAIG

Mrs. Sidra Baig is a 10-year member of the Social Studies Department who teaches AP European History (AP Euro) to our sophomore students. Bringing her love of learning about different cultures into the classroom, Mrs. Baig is passionate about showing her students the significance of learning history and how studying it makes it more relevant to them today. “I love teaching a world perspective to my students, introducing them to texts, and points of view,” she said.

Mrs. Baig understands our important connection to the past, how it influences our future, and the vital academic growth that happens when learning about history. “Learning history makes students become critical thinkers, and good writers, and I love being a part of that for my students,” she shared.

Like many of her colleagues, Mrs. Baig also works hard outside of the classroom to help advance Mater Dei’s mission in support our wonderful students. She works closely with Mrs. Jeni Dennin, AP of Catholic Identity and Student Formation, to promote education and awareness on campus working to ensure all students feel safe, included, and have a place to belong. “We want to inspire students to be committed to serving God, the Church, and their communities while embracing equity, justice, and peace,” Mrs. Baig shared.

Looking back on a decade teaching at Mater Dei, Mrs. Baig is grateful for her students and colleagues. “I love the feeling of community and family at Mater Dei. My students are the best. I feel thankful to be able to teach an awesome group of kids and help shape their futures. My colleagues make working at Mater Dei fun. I have an awesome department that I think truly cares about our students.”

Outside Mater Dei, Mrs. Baig is a wife and proud mother to two daughters. She loves to travel with her family and “see the world” through the eyes of her little ones. Mrs. Baig and her family love Niners football, UCLA (her alma mater), the Lakers, and of course the Monarchs. Mrs. Baig, thank you for your love and dedication to your students and colleagues.

FAREWELL, MRS. DIANE LARSEN

Longtime Social Studies Teacher Mrs. Diane Larsen officially retired from Mater Dei in June 2022 after 37 years of service. Mrs. Larsen’s specialty subject was Economics. In her classes, many students enjoyed engaging in the stock market simulation. In addition to her years in the classroom, Mrs. Larsen was also advisor to our Equestrian Team. Congratulations to you on your retirement and thank you for your service, Mrs. Larsen. Relax and enjoy – you deserve it!

After decades teaching generations of Monarchs (an estimated 6,000+ students), many of her former students who are now faculty were honored to surround her with love and gratitude on her last day. Pictured above (back row): Josh Avendano ‘97, Jason Quinn ‘90, Kiva Spiratos ‘90, Kathleen Kelly ‘94, Whitney LeVecke ‘02, Colleen Nanry ‘04, Alec Sixta ‘09, Art Hinojosa ‘13, and Justin Deskovic ‘08. SPIRIT OF JOSEF AWARD: MR. CHRISTOPHER PHAM

“I never met Josef, but I have always imagined that he was a wonderful person, somebody that all of us would like to be around. This is such an honor to receive this award. I would like to dedicate it to all my wonderful students. They make my day, every single day,” said Mr. Pham.

Mr. Christopher Pham, beloved member of the World Languages Department, was named the recipient of the Annual Spirit of Josef Award in conjunction with our 3rd Annual Josef Day in April 2022. He was surprised with the news in class by President Michael Brennan, (pictured below) Principal Frances Clare, and Kathleen Kelly ‘94, Director of Alumni & Legacy Relations.

The award and day was named in honor of Mater Dei’s longtime caretaker, benefactor, and friend, Josef D’Heygers (pictured above). Josef faithfully served Mater Dei from his arrival in Belgium in 1956 until his passing in 2010. His spirit continues to be felt on campus and his legacy will endure for generations of Monarchs to come. The Spirit of Josef Award recognizes a current Mater Dei employee who exhibits the spirit of Josef by exemplifying his best traits either through quiet random acts of kindness, as a model of faith, a good listener, passion for Mater Dei, care for our planet and beloved school campus, or small quiet displays of compassion that often go unseen.

Mr. Pham was nominated by several students and colleagues. One student shared, “Mr. Pham exemplifies the Spirit of Josef because he has a great way of connecting with other people through teaching French and just through acts of kindness.” Another Monarch said, “He always encourages us to do what’s right, to be good students, and people.” Mr. Pham’s students see his passion for Mater Dei and appreciate that working at Mater Dei is more than a job to him: “When it comes to teaching, Mr. Pham goes above and beyond. He puts maximum effort into everything he does.”

Congratulations and thank you, Mr. Pham, for living a life like our beloved Josef. May we all continue to be inspired by his legacy of Honor, Glory, and Love.

CLASS NOTES

1960s

Kathleen Gunton ‘64 has been publishing prose and poetry for 30 years in literary and commercial publications. Her second collection of poems (“Putting Words Next To Silence”) was nominated for the PEN AMERICA AWARD.
