Members of the volunteer organization were out in full force on Friday, May 29, planting an array of flowers on Main Street and other locations in town. Fostering civic pride and environmental responsibility through community involvement, Communities in Bloom encourages involvement from local citizens to keep the town looking its best.
Minnedosa Regional Health Foundation receives $20,000

The Minnedosa Regional Health Foundation has been awarded $20,000 through Sunrise Credit Union’s Building Community Grant program to purchase new and additional surgical equipment for the Minnedosa Health Centre. The funding will be used to
maximize the number of operations visiting specialists can perform per day, allowing more patients to receive treatment closer to home rather than travelling to larger centres.
Sunrise Credit Union announced $53,500 in total spring grant funding this week, distributed across five community organizations following a review of 88 applications requesting more
than $1.6 million – the program’s largest intake since launching in fall 2023.
“The overwhelming response reflects the passion, innovation, and growing needs within the communities we serve,” said Tim Klassen, President and CEO of Sunrise Credit Union. “Every applicant demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to making a difference, which made the selection
process especially difficult for the panel.”
The Minnedosa foundation’s award falls under the Individual and Community Well-being category of the grant program.
Other recipients in this intake include Treherne Minor Athletics, which received $10,000 to replace aging rink boards at its facility, and the Laurier Community Centre, which was awarded $15,000 to
replace metal siding and add exterior insulation to the volunteerrun building.
Since the program launched, Sunrise Credit Union has directed more than $261,598 toward 26 community projects across its service area.
The next intake period for the Building Community Grant program runs Oct. 1 till Oct. 31.
