With the walls and roof knocked down earlier in the week, there wasn’t much left of the Minnedosa District Arena on the morning of Friday, June 26, as contracted crew members sifted through the material. No word yet on what will fill the massive empty space, situated within the business section downtown, west of the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre.

Golfers will come together at the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club on July 4 to celebrate 50 years in current location

Minnedosa Golf & Country Club will celebrate a major milestone on Saturday, July 4, marking 50 years since the first round was played on the front nine at its current location.
The anniversary falls on the same day the club hosts its RBC PGA Scramble presented by BMW local qualifier, making July 4 a busy day of golf, history, and community celebration at the course.
Patrick Law, general manager and head professional at Minnedosa Golf & Country Club, said the date carries special meaning for the club.
“July 4 is our RBC Scramble Qualifier in the morning but it also is our 50th anniversary of the front nine opening that we are celebrating that evening,” Law said.
Law said the first round at the club’s current location was played on July 4, 1976, after the course moved from its former fairground location.
“Fifty years ago exactly the first round was played July 4, 1976 at our current location after the course moved from the fairground location,” he said.
To mark the anniversary, the club will offer 50-cent green fees from 5:00 p.m. onward, along with supper specials and a social evening for those who want to gather, share stories, and celebrate the past 50 years of golf in Minnedosa.
