Phasing Plan
These sketches are showing the development of the site plan, the bottom right sketch is showing the concept of the project, which is framing the view of the existing building and promoting its beauty within its surroundings. Whilst the bottom left sketch is showing the full site as at the start of the project the task was taking over all of the site before it was split into phases.

Working through these sketches I was developing the plan and the arrangement of the building whilst trying to keep the concept strong which is the views in and out of the existing building. Healthy aging can and should happen at any age and is why I wanted to preserve the existing swimming pool as much as possible as this would be able to attract all ages. The swimming pool helped to also push the idea of turning this into a community centre that does offer physio therapy in terms of treatment rooms as well as hydrotherapy.

The sketches are showing the plan progress with the idea of introducing a completely open space floor for the cafe this would let light in from the bay windows. These also show the idea of a colonnade wrapping this existing building providing space underneath cover as well as providing opportunities to sit on it looking out onto the view from the building.

These sketches are showing working in elevation as well as trying to progress and develop the internal spaces inside the building such as the swimming pool area and also the cafe space which opens up to all of the floors. From these drawings I wanted to develop the swimming pool space into being able to be seen from a seating area as well as the externally.

The top development drawings are showing the allocated spaces for the physio therapy spaces and a general arrangement of the layout of the building. The sketches below show the solution to the hall needing to be moved to fit onto the site as it did not fit with in the boundary, these solutions created a nice courtyard space to be created next to the swimming pool, whilst still communicating through the same language of the arches.

These drawings are starting to show the language of the arches beginning to wrap around the building. I wanted the arches to add a new part to this existing building but to do it in a subtle way.

Changing the main entrance to the building to being on the south facade is what helped to progress these changes as I wanted a positive entrance to look at the views into and from the existing building.
The east elevation shows the arches getting bigger as they reach the end of the hall which explains to why they are bigger on the north elevation on the left side.

The drawing above is to show the colonnade beginning to take shape in 3D, as it shows the fact that there is space underneath as well as space on top even though it is still being developed. The roofless Axonometric is a way to show the spaces inside of the building as well as trying to demonstrate the completely open space for the cafe.

The below image is an early visual of the new with the existing.
