Special Educational Needs School Uniform School Uniform At Glory Farm Primary School, we believe passionately in the importance of inclusion and equality for all children and adults, and strive to ensure that these values are at the heart of our SEND practices. Every child with a Special Education Need has access to Quality First Teaching and targeted support where needed to enable them to learn more and remember more.

We will always involve parents and children in key decisions, as well as planning and reviewing progress; we know that parents are the first educators of their child and that we need their knowledge and co-operation to plan effectively

We know that the earlier we identify SEND and provide support, the more successful our children will be. We are committed to providing expert support and resources for children with SEND to fulfil their individual potential. Our starting point is to guarantee a whole - school approach to providing for the needs of children with SEND In other words, we make sure that all staff have the knowledge and skills to support all children to achieve well, including those with SEND, throughout our School

We are a learning community and believe that it is important to work with other schools to make sure that our SEND knowledge, expertise and skills are up to date. We are also committed to supporting all staff in school to enable everyone to embed our good practice: we run training sessions for all staff regularly throughout the year. Our weekly meetings always involve a training specific element and we use the expertise of external agencies wherever possible. The SENDCo meets every term with other local SENDCos and the County teams to further broaden her knowledge and share this practice. Our Inclusion Manager attends the Local Authority SENDCO Forum, which keeps all schools up to date with national developments and local projects on inclusion.

We strongly believe in providing all pupils with the same opportunities, regardless of their starting points. In addition to the curriculum-based activities provided during the school day, we offer a wide variety of after school and lunchtime clubs throughout the week. These extra-curricular activities provide opportunities for our pupils to take up a new interest or spend additional time enjoying an existing one.

Our after school sports clubs are run by PE teachers and Sports Leaders from our Trust’s secondary school and we are also fortunate to be able to use their facilities. We have a school choir which meets weekly and also sings at community and school events. A wide variety of other clubs are held throughout the year (eg knitting, drama, board games, cooking).

All our clubs are free and well attended.

After School Clubs and Lunchtime Activities Safeguarding Care and Safety

Safeguarding encompasses all the things we do to protect our children At Glory Farm Primary School we have a culture of safeguarding and we recognise our legal duty of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding includes child protection, health and safety, poor attendance or late punctuality, anti-bullying and preventing peer-on-peer abuse, preventing risk of radicalisation, e-safety, behaviour, and ensuring there is no discrimination based on race, cultural background, sexual identity/orientation, disability, religion or gender. It also includes disclosure and barring checks on all staff and adults in the school. In addition the school has robust procedures for identifying and managing any issue likely to cause harm or possible harm to pupils, ensuring a safe environment in which our children can thrive learn and develop We will always take an immediate, considered and sensitive approach in order to support all of our children and recognise that every childs wellbeing is of paramount importance

Healthy Eating

School lunches are cooked on site and are free for all children up to the end of KS1. The weekly lunch menu can be found on our website https://www.gloryfarmschool.co.uk/parents/school-meals-aip

We encourage healthy eating and home-packed lunches should not include sweets, chocolate or fizzy drinks. Food containing nuts is also not allowed, due to allergies. As part of the National School Fruit Scheme, Reception and KS1 pupils are provided with a healthy snack in addition to their lunch. We encourage all of our pupils to bring fruit to school for the mid-morning break and/or included as part of their packed lunch, if they bring one. To encourage regular rehydration, pupils are asked to bring a bottle into school containing only water, which can be refilled during the school day.

Our staff know that the school should provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment and promote the social, moral, spiritual, cultural and physical development of each pupil. The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is of the utmost importance and all staff at the school take their responsibilities for the care of our pupils very seriously. During break and lunchtimes our pupils are encouraged to play safely together and all areas are supervised by members of staff. Pupils learn the importance of respecting and caring for each other and school rules are in place across the site, reinforcing the importance of mutual respect and safe behaviour. Key staff are qualified in first aid and are capable of dealing with pupils who feel unwell or have been hurt. In the very unusual event of a more serious incident we will contact parents immediately and keep them updated on the situation until they can collect their child.

Medicines

We would prefer medicines to be administered at home but we are aware that this is not always possible. Prescription and non-prescription medicines will only be administered at school:

When it would be detrimental to the pupil’s health or school attendance not to do so and Where we have parents’ written consent

Other Information Parent Partnership

Behaviour Parental Engagement

We don't have any rules at Glory Farm Primary School

Instead we have three expectations, that we are all: ready (ready to learn, ready to have fun) safe respectful

All children fully understand these and are able to explain what these mean This helps to ensure that behaviour and attitudes to learning are extremely positive in school and that children are developing their awareness of these life skills. We are extremely proud of how we work together as a school to ensure these expectations are part of our ethos and culture

We pride ourselves on involving our parents and families as part of our community at Glory Farm Primary School. There are opportunities throughout the school year for parents and families to get involved with their child’s learning through our Look At Learning’ events. This could involve coming in during the school day to share your childs learning with them, watch a performance or take part in an activity with your child. There is a Parental Engagement Lead across the school that monitors the opportunities being offered by year groups. Please do keep an eye on your childs year group page on the website to keep up to date with all the wonderful things that are going on at our school!
