hello

Marc Gascoigne Photography

My name’s Marc and I’m a photographer and a people person. Throughout my career I’ve helped hundreds of people from the cultural sector, performing arts and business worlds feel comfortable and look their best in front of the camera. My goal is to help people build the profile they need to keep on sharing their passions and talent with the world. I hope this booklet gives you an idea of how I work and the images we could create together. I hope that after taking a look through you’ll be itching to get started, so find my contact details on the back page and get in touch to arrange your photoshoot or to ask any questions you have. I’m looking forward to working with you.

Why have professional photos?

4

Marc Gascoigne Photography

When d one r ight , a port rait photogra ph should create a n impression of who yo u are before the viewer has had a cha nce to meet you. Having that all-important photograph presenting your best self to the world demonstrates that you take what you do seriously and are confident about sharing it with others. That’s why it’s important to work with a photographer who makes you feel relaxed and comfortable about expressing your personality in front of the camera. I like to think of it as the finishing touch to all the hard work you've put into developing your craft and building your career. It’s a skill I’ve been perfecting across the many portrait shoots I’ve conducted in my career - but if you need convincing, I’m happy to organise a video call so we can get to know each other a little better before finalising details of your photoshoot.

More about me My grandfathers and my great uncle brought me to photography. They were never professionals themselves but were all mechanically minded and enjoyed the technical proficiency required from the hobby. My grandfather furnished me with my first camera, my great uncle donated one of his books to me, and my largely self-taught journey through photography started there. I kept it as a hobby until I emerged from university with a degree in music, wondering if there might be a better direction for me to head in. While working in marketing I fixed my sights firmly on being a photographer and took that terrifying first step of resigning my salaried job at age 27. Like many photographers, I love the magic of using a camera to freeze a moment in time in the most pleasing way possible. But alongside that, for me photography is a way to stay on my feet - to meet people, go places and experience things that would have I would otherwise have missed. For me photography is where curiosity and art meet. And I think this is what makes me the right person to be your photographer. If you enjoy meeting people and are curious about them, then you’ll have their best interest at heart - and if you have someone’s best interest at heart, that’ll come through into making them feel comfortable in front of the camera. If you feel like it’s a treat to meet someone, you’ll be keen to work hard to ensure you’ve done the best you can for them. Today my work takes in a mixture of portrait photography and capturing the creative industries and performing arts in action. If you’d like to see more my website is at www.marcgascoigne.com and I’m on Instagram at @mdgascoigne.

The process 1. Cons ultation We'll have a video call to begin getting to know each other, so I can understand what you want from the photoshoot and you’ll have had a chance to ask any questions. 2. Finalise t he details of t he photoshoo t We’ll agree a time and a place for the shoot: there are a number of studios I work from but if there’s a more convenient location for you we can discuss this now. At this point, there’s a 30% deposit to pay to cover my expenses for setting up the shoot. 3. The photoshoot Relax, enjoy, it’s time for your photoshoot. We’ll already have done a consultation but do feel free to keep asking any questions you have before the day. On the day of the photoshoot the remainder of the balance becomes due - final images will only be released once this is paid. 4. Chose your favou rite images I’ll send you an online gallery with the best images from our photoshoot. Now you’ve got some time to go through them and pick your favourite images. There’ll be a number of photos included - if you want more, these can be purchased now. Once you’ve made your selection, drop me a quick email to let me know it’s time to move onto 5. 5. Pos t-p rod uction Back to me. I’ll make sure the images are looking their absolute best, involving some light airbrushing and colour-correction but nothing too drastic (unless you’ve asked for it). I will email you high resolution copies of the final images when they’re ready. 6. Start using your pho to s

Frequently asked questions

What happens before the shoot? Once your shoot is confirmed we'll arrange a time for a phone/video call to talk about what you're after, how the session and will run and how best to prepare. That's also a good time to talk about clothing, and any other questions you might have. Where are you based? Photoshoots normally happen in a studio around 15 minutes walk from London Bridge (or 5 minutes from Bermondsey tube) - but if travel there isn't an option it’s often possible for me to hire studio space somewhere nearer to you at additional cost (depending on the studio). I’m happy to travel, if you’re happy to cover travel time and cost. Can I see the images you're taking during the session? It's important you do! We'll be reviewing the photos as the shoot progresses to check you're happy with how things are going. What happens after the shoot? I'll email you a gallery of watermarked images the next day for you to review. You can select your favourite images from within the gallery. Whenever you have finalised your selection, email me to let me know and I will get to work on the final edits. Expect to have your final images back 7-10 days later. Although if you need them more quickly than that, tell me before the photoshoot and I'll see what I can do. What are these 'final edits' you're talking about? Every image has some light editing done to remove stray hairs, smooth out any blemishes, clean up the background and generally tidied up to make you look your best.

Will I look airbrushed? Not unless that’s a look you’ve asked me to go for. As a general rule I tend to go as lightly as possible with editing, so you still look like yourself. But if there's anything you are sensitive about please don’t be shy about asking. You and I both want you to be confident sharing your images with the world. What do I get at the end? I'll send you all the images you've selected, fully edited and licenced for your use. The number of images included depends on the package you've selected. Extra images are available at £25 each, and you can purchase as many as you like. How do I pay? A 30% deposit needs to be paid before the shoot is confirmed. After that you can pay by bank transfer or card within up to seven days after the shoot - although please note final images won't be released until the balance has been paid. How long do you keep the shots? Galleries stay online for at least six months after the shoot but I don't delete anything, so if at any time you'd like some more images from your shoot just get in touch. What's your cancellation policy? If you need to reschedule I will try to accommodate this with at least seven days notice, subject to payment of a new deposit. However, if you decide to cancel after the shoot is confirmed then your deposit will be forfeit, as I will have incurred costs setting up the session. Got a spot on the day and want to rearrange? No need. That'll take me a few seconds to fix during the edit.

Thank you for your interest

I hope to hear from you soon.
