A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Audience,
Every year I propose a show that I would like to direct to the MCT playreading committee for their approval. I look for a show that has a great story and wonderful music. I want to choose something that audiences will love and that will appeal to auditioners. I also specifically wanted to entice young people to audition since they are the future of our organization. There are lots of shows to choose from.
Then I ask, “Why this particular show now?” We have just had an election. At the time of this writing, I don’t know the outcome. But I do know that the time leading up to this election has been fraught with divisiveness and attacks on our personal freedoms. We need to come together and celebrate our differences and recognize what we all have in common.
The Prom is loosely based on a true story. I hope you will embrace the story, laugh, enjoy the terrific music and dancing and celebrate the joy and enthusiasm of our many new young actors.
Amid these tumultuous times, I hope we all embrace the overall message of this beautiful show.

She would like to thank the cast and crew for making her return to community theater welcoming and fun, and her friends and family for supporting her continued interest in the arts!

She is grateful to her parents and big brother for their constant support and looks forward to many more opportunities on stage.
MEET THE CAST
Tyler Ball (Mr. Hawkins)
Tyler is thrilled to be performing in his sixth MCT production and is honored to be part of this amazing cast and crew, as well as to share the stage once again with his daughter, Julia! Tyler was most recently seen as Lord Aster in Peter and the Starcatcher. Favorite past roles include: Monty in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Edward in Big Fish, and Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He sends heartfelt thanks to his friends and family—especially his wife, Jenny, and his children—for their love and support!

Her most recent credits include: Mean Girls (Cady), Newsies (Kathrine), Hunchback Of Notre Dame (Ensemble), Mamma Mia (Tanya), The 20th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Vp. Panch), Footloose (Dancer), and Frozen Jr. (Elsa). Serena would like to thank her parents, her friends, and the wonderful Dr. Lisa Wilson for her vocal instruction. This is his first show with MCT but he has been in many productions including SpongeBob SquarePants, Kinky Boots, and the The Wedding Singer. He enjoys penguins, spaghetti, long walks on the beach and of course theater. He is super excited to be a part of this amazing show and incredible cast. Matt Bookler ( Trent Oliver)
Matt is a 20+ year veteran of MCT, having performed in many shows over the years since his debut in Little Shop in 2003. In his roles since then he was so spectacular that there is simply no need to list them here, because you obviously remember all of them due to the fact that they touched you all so deeply. He’s particularly annoyed this time around to be sharing the stage with performers of such a high caliber that they might pull the audience’s eye away from him. Perhaps most aggravating of all is being shown up by a group of people so young that they only know Henry Winkler from his role on Barry. Regardless, he wants to thank all the people who do all of the things, but especially Deb (and her team) for feeding his ego by casting him in this part, and his wife Shelli for feeding his ego by actually marrying him! Go Juilliard Fighting Penguins!

You have a role at MCT.
MCT is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(C)(3) theater company that has produced high quality live theater in Montgomery County for over forty years. This season, we will present three musicals, one stage play, and one youth theater production. We create outstanding shows that entertain our audiences, provide a creative outlet to the community, and educate people of all ages about the theater arts.
Support our mission by becoming a member, becoming a patron, and telling a friend about the show you saw today. Word of mouth is the most effective way that we attract new audiences.
Our members create costumes, design sets, source props, devise lighting and sound plans, perform, manage our finances, create marketing plans, and much more. We welcome new volunteers at every skill level and would love to tell you more about how to get involved at MCT!
Our patrons support our shows through ticket sales, direct donations, employer matching, annual giving, corporate sponsorships, and planned gifts. We gratefully accept cash and check donations at every performance.
