Dear Montgomery County Community,
As we close the book on the 2023-2024 school year and begin to look toward August's excitement, I first want to express my heartfelt gratitude As the leader of Montgomery County Public Schools, I see, first-hand, the immense impact and support our community provides to our school system
It’s evident that we live in a region full of different backgrounds, ideas, and beliefs, but it makes me proud to know that our community recognizes and values the importance of education. Every day, we strive to positively impact the lives of our 9,700+ students We know it’s our job to prepare these children to become productive members of society once they leave MCPS

The summer months allow me to prepare for and look forward to the upcoming school year, but they also allow me to reflect on the accomplishments of the recently completed year
I’m proud to announce that 95% of the MCPS Class of 2024 graduated on time and that 57% graduated with advanced diplomas This class received over $8 6 million in scholarships Our graduates are pursuing higher education, joining the military, entering the workforce, and challenging themselves daily to improve the world.
As with every school year, 23-24 brought to light challenges and triumphs. Together, we witnessed our community wrap its arms around each other in times of tragedy and we saw us celebrate victories, both small and large, in the classroom, field, theater and beyond. We learned that we ’ re stronger as one and it’s the Montgomery County spirit that ties us all together
We broke ground on the renovations at Christiansburg High School, worked with the School Board and Board of Supervisors to help adequately compensate our staff, and had a record number of students complete our Career and Technical Education programs.
Looking towards the fall, we expect to see continued success in our classrooms, and we ’ re working hard to prepare for another successful school year.
Thank you for your continued support of Montgomery County Public Schools. We hope your summer is filled with joy, and we look forward to welcoming our students back to school in August
Sincerely,
Bernard F Bragen, Jr Superintendent
