Why regular sweeping matters The NFPA recommends an annual inspection and sweep for any chimney in regular use. Over a heating season, soot and creosote build up quietly. A clean flue gives you five concrete benefits: • Lower fire risk. Creosote is combustible and is the leading cause of chimney fires. Removing it takes the fuel out of your flue. • Better airflow. A clear flue draws smoke out efficiently, so your fireplace or stove heats your home as designed. • No nests or blockages. Birds, squirrels and debris find their way into unused flues. A sweep clears them before they become a hazard. • Lower carbon monoxide risk. A blocked or dirty flue can push combustion gases back into your home. Clean venting keeps that risk down. • Longer chimney life. Soot and moisture accelerate wear on liners and masonry. Routine cleaning slows that deterioration.

Comprehensive chimney inspection
1
2
We start with a Level 1 inspection to check for creosote buildup, blockages and structural issues, confirming the chimney is safe to use and compliant with NFPA standards. If we find significant damage, we recommend a Level 2 inspection for a deeper look.
Protective setup and preparation Drop cloths and high-powered vacuums protect your home from dust and debris before we touch the flue.
Creosote and soot removal
3
Specialized brushes and vacuums clear the liner, smoke chamber, firebox and damper, reducing fire risk and improving airflow.
Final safety check and recommendations
4
We confirm the chimney is clear and functioning properly, and flag any repairs worth knowing about, such as cracks, loose mortar or a damaged liner.
Sweep vs. inspection: what is the difference? A chimney sweep removes soot, creosote, ash and other buildup from the chimney. A chimney inspection evaluates the condition of the chimney and looks for damage, blockages or potential safety concerns. Both services help keep your chimney operating safely and efficiently.

Frequently asked questions How often should I get my chimney swept? The NFPA recommends inspecting your chimney, fireplace or vent system at least once a year if it is in regular use. If you burn wood often or have a wood-burning stove, you may need more frequent sweeping depending on how much creosote and debris builds up.
How long does a chimney sweep take? Most appointments take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the condition and type of chimney. Additional cleaning, an inspection or minor maintenance can take longer.
Will the sweep make a mess in my home? No. We use protective coverings and specialized equipment to contain soot, ash and debris while cleaning your chimney, fireplace or vent system.
