Department of Visual Arts Our curriculum provides a breadth of hands-on experience and understanding in studio art. Our graduates learn to analyze the history of art and its function within the evolution of contemporary culture, develop competency in a select area of art studio concentrations and cultivate critical thinking and effective communication skills to become better citizens within the community and throughout the world.

Art Degree Concentrations Ceramics Investigate the full range of functional and sculptural ceramic production methods and techniques, clay and glaze formulation and kiln firing methodology.

Drawing Explore representational and innovative imagery and learn the handling of various tools, materials and techniques in the rendering of still life, landscape and the figure.

Graphic Design Develop your ability to communicate ideas that inspire, inform and captivate consumers through visual elements, typography and graphics.

Painting Develop your understanding of design, color, composition and your artistic and technical skills while also exploring the history of painting.

Photography Learn the tools, techniques, processes and technologies in digital, traditional silver darkroom and alternative process photography, as well as the history and critical theory of the photograph.

Printmaking Build your knowledge and skills in the traditional and alternative print processes of monotype, relief, silkscreen, intaglio and lithography.
