Phone: 707-446-0368

Website: www.merchantandmaingrill.com

Much of that is gone at the moment, but people can still enjoy the restaurant’s fare six days a week.

Merchant & Main, located in the heart of historic downtown Vacaville, has been taking care of the culinary needs of local residents for 40 years. The restaurant has “a lovely patio, lounge and dining room,” with an extensive all-day menu that caters to all.

“We also have full catering and takeout menus,” owner Bob Tooke says.

The latter has become a mainstay for the restaurant during the pandemic.

Tooke’s focus, he says, is “taking care of our local customers who are extremely loyal” and “providing great food, great beverages and service to all at reasonable prices.”

The Champagne Brunch, a tradition since the restaurant opened in 1985, earned Merchant & Main the Best Brunch award in the Daily Republic’s latest reader survey.

“Downtown Vacaville has many great choices for eating out and we are proud to have made an impact on the local dining scene,” Tooke says.

He says he loves to hear from customers over the years that Merchant & Main is their favorite restaurant in Vacaville.

Dutch Bros Coffee

Dutch Bros Coffee has taken Solano County by storm, particularly since opening their two locations in Fairfield.

But the drive-thru coffee company has deep roots, founded in 1992 in Grants Pass, Oregon.

The company’s focus both locally and farther afield is: “We love our people! We love our customers and we love our crew! We love being a part of our community.”

Local franchise owner Kayleigh Slover says she believes the franchise’s selection as Best Coffee in the Daily Republic’s Readers’ Choice survey is based on the company’s three core values: speed, quality and service.

What makes Dutch Bros stand out is its love of both customers and crew, she says.

“We are so lucky to have great customers,” Slover says. “Our Broistas are hardworking individuals and we appreciate each and every one of them.”

The company’s core values resonate with Slover.

“Our mission statement is, ‘We are a fun-loving, mind-blowing company, that makes a massive difference one cup at a time,’ ” Slover says. “My favorite quote from our founder Travis Boersma is, ‘Love is the product, people are the passion, coffee is the method and positivity is the result.’ ”

Owner Larry Balestra says the focus of the business is to provide “the best produce for the best price so our community has the opportunity to feed their families healthy.” Balestra says its success with Daily Republic readers – and the community as a whole – comes down to this: “We truly care and try to provide excellent produce and service for our customers.”

But that’s not all that sets Larry’s Produce apart from the rest.

“We are one of the few places left that you can actually experience a true farm and pick your own produce,” Balestra says. “It’s very important to us to educate and show the community where their food comes from.”

Larry Balestra and his wife established Larry’s Produce in 1986 and it has become a seasonal stop of choice for many in the community – to the point where even in the off season, Daily Republic readers have selected the business once again as the Best Produce option in Solano County in the 2026 Readers’ Choice survey.

We believe we were voted Best Mediterranean in Solano County because everything we do comes from the heart. As a family-owned restaurant, we’ve stayed true to authentic Greek food, using the same time-honored recipes that haven’t changed in over 30 years. Quality has always come first, from our fresh ingredients to our use of first-press Greek olive oil in our cooking. Our dishes are made the traditional way: Dolmades hand-rolled with care, finished with our signature avgolemono sauce, and baklava made completely from scratch, just as it’s been done for generations. These aren’t shortcuts or trends, they’re traditions that stand the test of time.

Universal Painting Contractors Inc.

Business owner knows what it takes for quality work.

There are a lot of painting companies out there that will submit low bids, cut corners, and hire casual labor to perform the actual painting.

Not so far Universal Painting Contractors Inc., whose owner Steve Fitzpatrick believes in doing quality work and doing it thoroughly.

707-427-0445

upcpaint.com

Started in 1994, Universal Painting has specialized in residential work, although there have been a few commercial jobs that the company has done.

Fitzpatrick is no stranger to the painting and construction industry. His father is a contractor, and his brother an engineer. He preferred the painting and dry walling aspect of the industry, and his highly successful business shows it.

Universal has a crew of actual employees rather than casual labor and they all reflect Fitzpatrick’s high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. The first thing that is done prior to painting a house is a complete power washing, followed by a very thorough phase of preparing the house for painting by inspecting and repairing any cracks, checking for dry rot, caulking windows and any other prep work necessary. It is not until that work is completed that any painting will actually take place.

Fitzpatrick is satisfied when the work is finished and it is a job well done.

“The rewards are seeing a house you finish. It is very satisfying,” notes Fitzpatrick.

Scott Reynolds, Reynolds Law LLP

Reynolds Law, LLP, founded in 2015 by attorney Scott Reynolds, is a full-service law firm providing exceptional legal services to businesses and individuals through its team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff. With offices in Fairfield, Vacaville, Roseville and Redlands, the firm serves clients throughout California.

“At Reynolds Law, we focus on estate planning, trust administration and probate, business, real estate, land use, tax, and civil and estate litigation,” Reynolds says. “We strive to provide our clients with outstanding, personalized service to achieve their goals. Although we are best known for excellence in estate planning, trust administration and probate, we provide services to our business clients as well needing to form entities, negotiate contracts, acquire or sell a business or ensure business continuity through succession planning."

“We have real estate and land use expertise to support our clients seeking transactional or financing support and representation before local, state and federal regulatory agencies,” Reynolds says. “To further support clients needing any of our services, we have an outstanding litigation team to advocate for or defend our clients in commercial, real estate and litigation. For those in need, Reynolds Law has a strong team of tax attorneys not historically found in Solano County.”

Reynolds says his recipe for success is to mix experience, consistency and dependability with a great team of professionals — an approach that continues to earn recognition. It’s that philosophy, he says, that contributed to his selection again as Best Attorney in the Daily Republic’s 2026 Readers' Choice survey.

“Over the years, I experienced it all, which helps me solve clients problems that other attorneys cannot,” Reynolds says. "Early in my career, I learned the skill of effective listening, which allows me to quickly focus on the true issues facing clients – and find a solution.”

Reynolds says few practicing attorneys in the region have as many years of experience as he does — 49. Even fewer are certified specialists by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in Estate Planning, Trust Administration & Probate and are recognized as a Super Lawyer in Business.
