Whether a medical patient or a recreational consumer, clients will be provided with comprehensive information on cannabis use and attentive assistance to help them find the right product for their needs. That’s in line with the company’s mission: To provide the local community with a wide variety of affordable cannabis options in a safe, positive and education-focused environment. Owner Haley Andrew says her focus is and continues to be customer service and community involvement. “We want our customers to feel as though they are part of our family when they come to Dixon Wellness,” Andrew says. “Our customers need to be able to trust our staff and their recommendations on cannabis. Cannabis dispensaries can be scary to some and we are consistently trying to help our customers feel at ease when shopping at Dixon Wellness.” Andrew attributes those efforts for being named Best Cannabis Dispensary in the Daily Republic’s 2022 Readers’ Choice survey. “Each year we are so thankful that our customers care enough to vote us as the best cannabis dispensary. Our team works incredibly hard to provide the best service to each of our customers,” Andrew says. “The amount of hard work and dedication that has come out of our team in the past three years is why our customers continue to return to shop at Dixon Wellness. We work hard to build these relationships with our customers. Our customers trust our team’s recommendation on products that would suit the customer’s needs. We never try to upsell a customer on a product, we are only recommending the products that we believe could help the customer in their needs. Building these relationships is what continues to bring our customers back to us each time.” Education is continuously what sets Dixon Wellness apart for the collective’s customers. “We want to ensure that our customers are learning from our staff, that our staff is taking the time to help educate our customers regarding the product they are purchasing,” Andrew says. “We never want our customers to leave our store feeling as though they are not fully sure of how to use the item they just purchased. With so much misinformation available to the cannabis consumer, it is vital to our success as an industry to have our staff well-versed on cannabis and its health properties. Customers come to us for guidance, and at Dixon Wellness Collective we thrive on ensuring we are able to give this guidance.” “We are so thankful to have been voted Best Cannabis Dispensary once again,” Andrew says. “We continue to work hard to bring the most affordable, safe access to cannabis in Solano County. We hope to continue to earn the respect of our community through all of our community work that we do and we cannot thank our customers enough for this recognition.”

You’ll often see them at local breweries like True Symmetry Brewing or Solano Brewing Company, feeding their patrons. The restaurant opened in 2018. “We started this business because we’re passionate about the food we eat,” co-owner Sarah Harper says. “We really wanted to bring a new option to our community for really good food.” “I learned a lot about what I know about business from my grandpa who used to operate a retail store in Kansas,” co-owner Andy Harper says. “He always told me the key to success was selling quality products at a fair price. We built that into the business model at Hank & Hazel’s. I know when I see a customer enjoying a meal there, they got the highest quality food at a fair price.” The Harpers shared their philosophy: “We like to call ourselves a ‘Sausage and Beer’ restaurant. We usually have between 20 to 30 craft beer varieties available between draft and canned options. We love helping customers find the perfect beer and sausage to match it with. We find that many of our customers enjoy learning more about sausage – we change our menu every day, so there’s always something new to try and a new sausage variety to learn about,” they say. “We focus on sourcing only the best food – we’re incredibly proud of the quality of our sausages, the fresh-baked buns, the house-made condiments, and pickles. We put a lot of love into the food that we serve. Our other biggest focus is our customers. Our team just loves getting to know our regulars, and we see each new customer as someone who may become a regular so we love giving them memorable service.” The Harpers say they think Daily Republic readers selected Hank & Hazel’s as the Best Hot Dog providers in the 2022 Readers’ Choice survey in part because they are a family owned small business – but also because of the food. “Most of our customers know our story and have deep connections with our staff,” the Harpers say. “You buy from people not from brands, and I think people think about the people when they vote for a restaurant in a contest like this. And, of course, the food. That speaks for itself.”

That attention to quality resonated with Daily Republic readers, who chose In-N-Out as the Best Fries in Solano County in the 2022 Readers’ Choice survey. But the burger and fries are not all. Solano Glass Company, located off Air Base Parkway and Clay Bank Road, In Fairfield: 1230 Western St. has been serving Solano County residents and businesses for more than six Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday decades. While six decades may seem like ancient history for many, even Phone: 707-425-6461 something as timeless as the basic technology of window glass has changed Email: solanoglass1@att.net over time. Website: www.solanoglass.com “All new windows in residential and commercial (buildings) have to meet strict criteria for Title 24 with extreme low-e glass products and thermally broken systems. These items definitely help with lower energy costs,” Curtis Branson says. Title 24 has to do with state building code regulations and requirements for saving energy by requiring all windows meet specified criteria. Solano Glass Company specializes in many different types of glass, including glass for storefronts, residential windows, mirrors, shower doors, screens, and patio doors. They are also specialists in the state regulations that many homeowners and business owners would find mind-boggling. “We have many years of experience and are very detail-oriented,” Branson says. “We pride ourselves on our professionalism.” One way Solano Glass Company’s business has changed is they do not do as much on-site glass cutting and window framing. “We do less fabrication due to competitive fabrication companies,” Branson, a 1976 Fairfield High graduate, says. “Also a lot of manufacturers deliver products directly to a job site.” As it has been for years, Solano Glass Company is voted “A+” by the Better Business Bureau. This is the ninth consecutive year the longtime local business has been recognized by Daily Republic readers as tops in their industry. Solano Glass Company, like a lot of construction and building businesses, has faced challenges with the shifting national economic conditions. But it has weathered the storm and Branson’s guess for the future local economy is good. “I see it as positive. People want to save energy and go green. This enhances the market,” Branson says. “We can expect this to continue in the future.” The company does everything glass except auto glass, which it stopped doing more than 25 years ago in 1996. Branson thanks his customers for keeping him in mind during the pandemic. “Our customers are so important to us,” he says. Runners-up: Acme Glass, Tri City Glass

We focus on hiring individuals that are passionate about what they do. Our business comes from a foundation of service and we make sure our employees are grounded in that same foundation.” Jenna Bryan Stewart, general manager and vice president, says it takes a complete team – all working toward the same goals – to effectively serve others in their time of loss. “I have two goals that are explicitly connected: First, to ensure the families we serve leave Bryan-Braker feeling they had a personalized experience that valued and honored their loved one; and second, to make sure our staff knows they are valued and appreciated,” Bryan Stewart says. “I believe the long-term success of a company reflects the culture within the office. The satisfaction and cohesiveness of our staff flows to the families we serve. The ability to consistently be able to provide the excellent service Bryan-Braker is known for comes from a foundation of synergy among our staff. The supportive foundation we have created in the office with each other is carried outside the office to the families we are privileged to serve.” Craig Bryan reflects on his time leading the company and the transition of leadership to the next generation. “It’s been a privilege to take over this business from my father and facilitate its growth into what it is today,” Bryan says. “I am honored to be in a position to serve our community in such a meaningful way for so many years. Now, moving slowly into retirement, it is rewarding being able to pass this on to my daughter.”

Anchor Tattoo has been voted Best Tattoo Shop in previous years and earned the recognition once again in the Daily Republic’s 2022 Readers’ Choice survey. Artists at the shop hope to make people feel at home in an environment that is solely based on making clients feel comfortable, not only while being tattooed but more specifically, feel comfortable, confident and not discriminated upon based on the type of tattoo they seek to collect. “We are a family,” owner Anthony Stewart says. “You feel it when you come in. Our shop environment always makes everybody feel good about any tattoo that they want to add to their collection, or even just start their collection, no matter the subject matter or style.” Stewart says he does not compare his shop’s work to the work that’s done at other tattoo shops. “We don’t compete,” he says. “We are artists, always trying to make a good tattoo. Learning from other artists is the only way to grow. Competition is completely disregarded and irrelevant.” Runners-up: Alpha Omego Tattoo, White Rabbit

Massage providers in Solano County. The company, founded in 2008, provides clients with individualized services, not a one-size-fits-all treatment. The team of therapists works with guests and members to customize each session to address problem areas, pressure points and medical issues to make sure everyone leaves feeling invigorated. Franchisee Jay Gosyne says the caring and dedicated staff is the primary reason Massage Envy-Cordelia was voted the best of Solano County six years in a row. Those characteristics are also what sets Massage Envy-Cordelia apart from the competition. “We provide customized services for each client with affordable rates,” Gosyne says. “Massage Envy-Cordelia’s staff cares for each client no matter the reason they came in for service.”
