FAIRFIELD — Solano and Sonoma counties expect to receive $1.25 million as part of 27 recommendations the Blue Ribbon Transit Recovery Task Force has recently sent to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. The funding is to help “complete (the counties’) transit integration initiatives,” the task force recommendation said. Solano County is in line to get $500,000 and Sonoma County to receive $750,000. Contra Costa County ($500,000) also was listed in MTC documents from July, but was not specifically listed among the recommended items. Solano County Supervisor Jim Spering, who See Solano, Page A9

FAIRFIELD — Five pilot programs designed to “ease the Bay Area’s housing affordability and homelessness crises” received $20 million in the state budget. The funds were allocated to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which in turn is using the allocation as seed dollars for the five programs that come under the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority. The authority is managed by the MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments. See MTC, Page A9
VACAVILLE — Fiesta Days events may have been canceled this weekend, but the Peña Adobe Historical Society went ahead Saturday with a mini Fiesta Days celebration of its own. “It really turned into a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, since this month celebrates Hispanic heritage,” Cricket Kanouff, president of the Peña Adobe Histori-

She said she understands why Fiesta Days had to be canceled. “It gets a ton of people,” she said. Peña Adobe welcomed Folklorico Juvenil-Danzantes Unidos de Vacaville to the park for the miniFiesta Days event. The group consists of middle school and high school Vacav-

Newsom, California lawmakers hit an impasse on financing bullet train Tribune Content Agency A battle to secure an additional $4.2 billion for the California bullet train has hit an impasse, with Gov. Gavin Newsom and legislative leaders failing to reach a compromise Friday. Unless the two sides resume
talks soon, any additional money for the bullet train will have to be negotiated in 2022, forcing the rail project to dip further into the roughly $2-billion pot it has in hand. The California High-Speed Rail Authority was seeking the appropriation of all the remaining money from a 2008 bond act to continue building
