FAIRFIELD — Those who are eligible for a second Covid-19 booster shot has been expanded in Solano County to include anyone who is 50 or older, and anyone 12 or older with immunocompromising health conditions. “Vaccination and getting a booster remain the most effective methods to combat Covid-19,” Dr. Bela Matyas, the county public health officer, said in a statement released Thursday. “Stay home if you are sick and continue to wash and sanitize your hands frequently.” The minimum interval between the first and second boosters is four months. FAIRFIELD — The Solano County Economic Development Corp. is building a partnership with Solano Community College to allow underserved students a chance to gain valuable business experience.
A fellowship has been formed to offer students of low to moderate incomes the chance at a 10-week internship. It will feature a $2,500 stipend coming from a $12,500 contribution made by Kaiser Permanente to help get the program started. The pilot program will
feature three students this summer who will work early June until mid-August. The fellowship will allow these students the opportunity to learn, earn money and college credit. “When I was working in LA, I learned a lot about the See Program, Page A8

FAIRFIELD — The Solano County Elections Office will soon be sending the June 7 primary election ballot to the printers. The state Secretary of State’s Office has finalized the candidate lists for all the federal and state offices, the final pieces to a full ballot that also includes county races for district attorney, sheriff-coroner and the District 3 seat on the Board of Supervisors. District Attorney Krishna Abrams has been challenged by Chief Deputy District Attorney
Sharon Henry. SheriffCoroner Tom Ferrara has been challenged by former sheriff’s Deputy Daryl Snedeker. There are five candidates vying for District 3 supervisor: Jennifer Barton, Joseph Joyce, Pete Sanchez, Chuck Timm and Wanda Williams. John Gardner, the county assistant registrar of voters, said mail-in ballots will go out to registered military personnel on April 22 and to all registered voters starting May 9.
