VALLEJO — Touro University California and its partners commemorated the 100th mobile Covid-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday at Cooper Elementary School. The Mobile Vaccination Program helps vaccinate vulnerable populations by eliminating barriers to access for underserved communities, according to a Touro press release. These clinics are set up in neighborhood locations such as churches and schools that are easy to access and are in locations where residents will congregate anyway. “None of this can happen without collaboration,” Solano County Superintendent of Schools Lisette Estrella-Henderson said. “It’s a beautiful thing. People coming together hand-in-hand to help this community. This is happen-

ing across the entire county. Solano County benefits from these types of partnerships.” Kaiser Permanente provided grant support for the mobile clinics. “We thank you for allowing us to be a part of this celebration today,” said Dr. Keedra McNeill of Kaiser Permanente. “And we congratulate everyone who is coming out and bringing your children to receive your shots.” Touro staff and volunteers were available to not only give the Covid-19 vaccinations but to address any concerns or other misinformation about the vaccines themselves or the vaccination process. In addition to addressing various vaccination hesitancy concerns, staff and volunteers through the mobile clinic are able to address many people for whom English is not their See Clinic, Page A9

Biden vows to appoint a Black woman to Supreme Court Breyer makes retirement official WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden praised Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer, who made his retirement official at the White House on Thursday, vowing that his choice to replace him will be a Black woman and that he plans to announce the choice by the end of next month. “I’ve made no decision except one: The person I will nominate will be someone of extraordinary qualifications, character,

experience and integrity,” Biden said. “And that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court. It’s long overdue.” Appearing with Breyer before a small group of reporters in the Roosevelt Room just outside the Oval Office, Biden called it “a bittersweet day for me,” noting that he and Breyer “go back a long way,” and praising him as “an exemplary justice” and “model public servant at See Biden, Page A9
