Clinton heads home after spending 6 days in a hospital Tribune Content Agency LOS ANGELES — Former President Bill Clinton was seen leaving an Orange County hospital Sunday morning, six days after he was admitted and treated for a urological and blood infection. The 75-year-old is flying to New York with his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and his daughter, Chelsea, according to an aide. Upon landing, Clinton will head to their family home in Chappaqua, about 30 miles north of New York City. “His fever and white blood cell count are normalized and he will

return home to New York to finish his course of antibiotics,” said Dr. Alpesh N. Amin, who lead the team of doctors who treated Clinton. “On behalf of everyone at UC Irvine Medical Center, we were honored to have treated him and will continue to monitor his progress.” Clinton walked out of the hospital with his wife shortly after 8 a.m., shook hands with Amin and flashed a thumbsup at photographers gathered there. The former president has been a globetrotting celebrity and philanthropist since leaving See Clinton, Page A7

Tahoe waters plummet as drought, climate change plague lake resort Tribune Content Agency LOS ANGELES — Lake Tahoe’s water level has dropped so low that water is no longer flowing into the Truckee River, and salmon aren’t expected to spawn in a major tributary this year. Some boat ramps and docks are hundreds of feet from the water line, and clumps of stringy algae have been washing up on beaches, said Geoffrey Schladow, director of the University of California, Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center. “It’s putting us on warning that things could get a lot worse,” he said.

It is typically lowest in December and January and then increases in the spring as melting snow from nearby mountains flows down, Schladow said. “This year, we didn’t get that bump,” he said. “It was more or less dropping since the previous year.” Multiple boat ramps were unable to open for the summer season. And with no gamechanging precipitation, conditions have continued to worsen. The water level is usually somewhere between the lake’s natural rim, which sits at 6,223 feet, and a dam
