VALLEJO — A witness to the crash that caused the deaths of CHP Officer Kirk A. Griess and a Vallejo August motorist in 2018 told investigators he saw the blinking lights of the patrol bike as he approached the Manuel Campos Parkway exit off westbound Interstate 80. FAIRFIELD — Kirk Griess had the kind of personality that earned him the nickname “Hollywood” from his CHP compatriots. “Family was very important to Kirk,” according to a victim impact statement from his parents, Helen and Sheldon Griess, that was read at the Solano County Superior Court sentencing hearing for the man responsible for his death Aug. 10, 2018. VALLEJO — Lyn Milas grew up in New York City, across the bridge from Brooklyn. “I used to play with some of the Brooklyn kids who came over the bridge,” said Milas, who on Thursday turned 101 years old.
