FAIRFIELD — Solano County will mark a somber anniversary Saturday as ceremonies are planned to honor the lives lost Sept. 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in rural Pennsylvania.

The events get underway early with the Fairfield Police and Fire departments gathering at 7 a.m. outside the Police Department, 1000 Webster St. Near is a plaque honoring those who died on that day.

The Suisun City Fire Department continues its annual commemoration of 9/11 with a ceremony in front of the Fire Station, 621 Pintal Drive.

The station is home to beams from the World Trade Center that arrived about 10 years ago under now-retired Fire Chief Mike O’Brien.

The beams arrived just prior to the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Those who were here during the arrival all said it was an extremely emotional event, Fire Chief Justin Vincent said.

“Suisun City Fire Department not only has a mental and emotional connection to the attacks on 9/11, but also a physical connection in the form of two 2-ton beams from the World Trade Center,” Vincent shared with the DR in an email. “We will honor those 2,977 lives claimed by the brutal attacks of Sept. 11, 2001: the men and women who woke up that day, never anticipating an attack on their place of work or against this country; the innocents who hailed from 90 nations and all walks of life.”

“The heroism and compassion witnessed were remarkable on 9/11,” Vincent wrote. “For the United States, there are three defining forces that have made the pledge to die for you – Jesus Christ for your soul, the American soldier for your freedom and the American public safety professionals in police and fire for your safety.”

That happened at an event with several hundred people present. Oh, and I was the speaker, by the way. I played it off and made a joke about the chair to break the ice when I gave my talk, but deep inside I was mortified and humiliated.

Whenever I went to events or restaurants or concerts after that, the kind of chairs they had was front and center on my mind. No more.

Have you ever had to turn sideways to squeeze into the driver’s side of a car? After successfully fitting in it, did you then have your belly rub against the steering wheel when you drove?

No? Well, I have. Now I still do have to kinda turn sideways to fit into our Jeep Renegade, but that’s because while I use less gravity, I didn’t get any shorter and it’s sometimes difficult to get my 5-foot-16-inch frame in when I’m parked close to another car.

I haven’t flown in a plane since I have been doing BLE, but I am looking forward to not using a seatbelt extender when I finally do. As a matter of fact, I will

make a point of telling the flight attendant that I finally do not need one. I also want to sit in the middle seat between two people (uh, post-Covid, oh course) – because I can.

I owe so much to Bright Line Eating founder Susan Peirce Thompson, Ph.D., because without the tremendous gift of being able to finally achieve sustainable weight loss, I absolutely would never have had the confidence to write my book. Now, Susan lives in Rochester, New York, but is a San Francisco native. As it happens, she has relatives who live in Fairfield and I was blessed to meet and hang out with her and her family in 2019.

In the acknowledgments section in my book she is one of many who helped me to believe in myself and I thank her for that, there, and reiterate my undying gratitude to her right here and right now as well.

New Star Wars space for adults on high seas Tribune Content Agency ORLANDO, Fla. — X-Wing fighter: Check.

Millennium Falcon: Check. That Baleenclass bulk freighter that Han Solo and Chewbacca were using in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”: Check.

Hundreds of recognizable and barely recognizable Star Wars spacecraft will be flying in the background scenes of the very high definition window into space of the new Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge coming to the Disney Wish when Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship debuts in summer 2022.

Disney Imagineers are honing the bells and whistles in Orlando for the space to be installed on the ship under construction in Germany.

“They don’t realize we do these things in trailers,” said Executive Creative Director Ken Horii.

It’s the first Star Wars space geared toward adults after the cruise line installed spaces in the Oceaneer Club aboard both Disney Dream and Fantasy, geared for kids ages 3-12.

“We’ve heard from adults, why are Star Wars experiences limited to the kids spaces,” said Imagineer and project coordinator Sachi Handke, noting they

With Disney Wish, the adults look to finally have a space of their own. Well, children will be able to check it out during the daytime.

“I mean who wouldn’t want to come in this?” Horii said.

The space is meant to feel lavish, pulling inspiration from the ship of character Dryden Vos seen in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”

or the casino city Canto Bight seen in “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.”

What’s in the works is a highend bar as if travelers were on a yacht-class spaceship. For those that venture into the space, it will be as if they’re leaving the Disney cruise ship and boarding a vessel in that galaxy far, far away. That includes a promised sliding door with a signature, “whooosh” sound.

Once inside, every hour or so, a massive screen with 16,000 pixels

will be displaying scenes moving among six planets from the Star Wars galaxy, running from 7-10 minutes each. They include Tatooine, Mustafar, Batuu, Coruscant, the Moons of Endor and a scene including the Ace Squadron, which are characters from a Disney cartoon called “Star Wars Resistance.”

“It’s like four movie theaters next to each other,” said concept designer Nick Snyder. “That’s the kind of resolution we’re talking about here.”

Among the scenes will be hundreds of ships, from the famous to the barely recognizable except to the most die-hard of Star Wars fans.

“There are just hundred of Easter eggs in these things,” said Snyder, who added that each ship has a story. “We literally have every toy [spacecraft] that Lucasfilm has ever created.”

Some of the ships on the 2-D screen will be rendered in a 3-D hologram tube in the lounge as well. It’s part of the high-end theme of the venue, with plush leather and chrome, yet with trophy-like oddities in jars.

“It’s creatures and things we’ve collected from all of these planets we’re going to be jumping to,” Snyder said.

VACAVILLE — The 2021 Solano Walk to End Alzheimer’s Kickoff Party will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ulatis Community Center, 1000 Ulatis Drive.

The kickoff party presents an opportunity to meet other walkers, enjoy refreshments and pick up resources about Alzheimer’s and the upcoming walk. The event will occur on the outdoor patio with ample distance for Covid-19 protocols.

The Solano Walk to End Alzheimer’s is scheduled Oct. 16 at the Harbor Plaza in Suisun City.

Signups for the walk are ongoing at act.alz.org/ solano2021.

Kickoff party participants must agree to abide by Covid-19 protocol, including physical distancing, masking if unvaccinated, not attending if tested positive or are awaiting a test result, showing symptoms, or been in close contact with a person who has tested positive or who has symptoms of Covid-19.

Car and motorcycle show benefits schools A car show and lunch are available Saturday – for a nominal donation – at the 8th Annual Ball Metal Car and Bike Show.

The car show serves as a donations drive to support local schools. The “entry fee” is a donation of school supplies: backpacks, tablets, notebooks, dry erase markers, pens and so forth. Those who donate may enjoy the show and a fee-free lunch.

A DJ will provide music during the event.

Pop-Up Yoga Storytime resumes Solano County Library staff will host a Pop-Up Yoga Storytime for children and families Friday at Laurel Creek Community Park.

They will integrate movement and literacy with stories, songs and yoga poses. The sorytimes start at 10 a.m. and will last up to 30 minutes.

Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat if they have one; staff have some that may be borrowed.

FDA pushes for Moderna booster shot data as it weighs its next step Tribune Content Agency WASHINGTON — U.S. health regulators are seeking additional coronavirus booster shot data from Moderna Inc., as the Biden administration expects to begin a widespread booster campaign this month with only the Pfizer Inc.-BioNTech vaccine, people familiar with the matter say.

Moderna announced Friday that it had “completed” its submission of data to the Food and Drug Administration for authorization of boosters. The FDA has been seeking more data as Moderna’s submission rolled in, the people added.

In particular, the FDA is looking for more information on the efficacy of a 100-microgram dose – the same as the first two shots people received – not just the 50-microgram booster submitted by Moderna as a potential booster, one of the people said.

Whether the apparent impasse will spark a lengthy delay, or ultimately

be resolved, is unclear.

The FDA will now pore over the Moderna submission. The agency has been pressing for data on a 100-microgram booster as it weighs its next steps.

The Biden administration announced that

it would offer boosters beginning Sept. 20, but the baseline expectation is now that it will begin with only the Pfizer-BioNTech shot at that point, the people said. Moderna is poised to follow a couple weeks later, one of them said.

‘Insecure’ releases start date, teaser for final season Tribune content agency Issa Rae is taking one last look in the mirror before saying goodbye to her smash-hit comedy “Insecure.”

HBO released a teaser trailer Friday for the fifth and final season of its acclaimed series about a young, Black woman navigating work, love and friendship in South Los Angeles.

The first episode of Season 5 will premiere Oct. 24 on HBO – five years after Season 1 found its relatable protagonist disillusioned with her long-term relationship and an unfulfilling job at a predominantly white nonprofit organization.

“Oh, Issa. You were so simple then,” Rae’s character tells herself

during one of her signature bathroom pep talks in the Season 5 preview.

“I just wanna be drama-free and happy. I keep fronting everybody like I’m not scared about what’s next for me, but I’m terrified. So what am I supposed to do now?”

A great question, considering the major cliffhanger of a Season 4 finale saw Issa finally reconnect with her former flame, Lawrence (Jay Ellis), only to learn that (spoiler alert!) another woman is pregnant with his child.

Co-created and executive produced by Rae, “Insecure” also features the on- and offscreen talents of Ellis, Yvonne Orji, Amanda Seales, Kendrick Sampson and Natasha Rothwell.

Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to affect the region as well, creating hazy and smoky skies.

Air quality is expected to be moderate Tuesday across the Bay Area district, both in terms of smog in and around Fairfield and due to microscopic particulate matter found in wildfire smoke.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management includes all or parts of the nine Bay Area counties, including western Solano County around Fairfield and Suisun City west to the Vallejo-Benicia area. The Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District includes the area around Vacaville and Dixon, east into Winters and Yolo County.

Air pollution warnings for smog are issued when ozone levels are projected to reach unhealthy levels.

Smog can cause throat irritation, congestion, chest pain, trigger asthma, inflame the lining of the lungs and worsen bronchitis and emphysema. Long-term exposure to smog can reduce lung function.

Smog levels are expected to be unhealthy Monday for people in sensitive groups who live and work in and around Fairfield and Suisun City, the Bay Area district reports.

Smog levels are expected to improve to moderate Tuesday on the Air Quality Index.

Districts that monitor air quality classify pollution levels on a sliding scale known as the Air Quality Index. The scale ranges from good, to moderate, to unhealthy for sensitive groups, to unhealthy, to very unhealthy, to hazardous.

High-level smoke that drifts to ground level will contribute to moderate air quality Monday across other portions of the Bay Area.

In South Lake Tahoe, crews keep Caldor Fire reined in Tribune Content Agency LOS ANGELES — Thousands of firefighters have made steady progress battling two large blazes that stretch across swaths of Northern California.

The Dixie Fire, which now spans five counties near Chico, has grown by about 25,000 acres, to 893,852 acres, since Friday – but is 56% contained, officials said.

More than 3,800 firefighters are still battling the massive blaze.

Farther south, in the area surrounding South Lake Tahoe, the Caldor Fire held steady at about 215,400 acres burned and 43% containment. Firefighters in recent days have been working extensively to prevent the fire from destroying the ski resorts and other structures in this heavily trafficked region, which is still under an evacuation order.

The weather had been working in fire crews’ favor last week. Much of the fire’s northwestern edge along U.S. 50 is contained, but officials are concerned that an increase in wind along with hotter conditions could lead the fire to break through

“The way that shows up is in an increase in fire intensity,” said Tim Ernst, Cal Fire operations section chief. “We had a lot more hot spots pop up” within the containment zone.

The fire’s northeastern edge protruding up to Wrights Lake is still very active and intense – and the rugged, remote conditions aren’t making the work of maintaining containment lines any easier.

Ernst said firefighters had had to fly in pumps and other equipment because it was so difficult to access the area.

“Everything has held real well,” Ernst said – adding that on the fire’s east side near South

Lake Tahoe there hasn’t been any damage to structures.

Ernst said firefighters would spend the day doing mop-up work and making sure hot spots didn’t spread and threaten homes. Firefighters had carved containment lines around more than a third of the blaze.

Capt. Parker Wilbourn, a public information officer on the fire, told the Los Angeles Times on Saturday that three key factors were helping to save South Lake Tahoe: extensive firefighting operations, residents maintaining defensible space around their homes, and past forest management projects.

“They’ve had a forest clearing initiative for

the last nine to 10 years that really cleared out that fuel load,” he said, crediting the U.S. Forest Service with completing both prescribed burns and vegetation-thinning operations.

Up north on the Dixie Fire, reports came in of the first firefighter fatality. A spokesman for Cal Fire said a firefighter had died due to “an illness” but declined to say if it was related to fighting the blaze. A local NBC affiliate reported that it was a U.S. Forest Service firefighter who died but that the death wasn’t related to the fire.

The blaze has been burning for almost eight weeks after starting in a dense section of forest in Plumas County when a downed tree may have met with PG&E equipment and sent sparks flying. It’s California’s second-largest wildfire on record and continues to grow.

Edwin Zuniga, a public information officer on the fire, said there had been lots of spotting – when sparks are carried by the wind and start new fires – on the north side of the fire but that it was “nothing our crews haven’t been able to get a hold of.”

The Dodgers had the better rotation, the more experienced bullpen, the deeper lineup, the most recent World Series title and the far more realistic opportunity to win the next.

West isn’t decided over Labor Day weekend, but with all 19 head-to-head matchups between the Giants and Dodgers in the books, there’s no longer any reason to doubt San Francisco. With a 6-4 victory at Oracle Park on Sunday, the Giants won the season series over the Dodgers 10-9 and now hold a one game lead in the division with 25 left to play.

Buehler entered Sunday’s start as a frontrunner for the National League Cy Young Award and his dominance against the Giants has played a significant role

in shaping his candidacy. In five starts against San Francisco, Buehler had logged 34 innings and only allowed three earned runs.

By the time the bottom of the fourth inning started on Sunday, Buehler was out of the game.

It belongs to David Witzling, a Bruins fan who unwittingly sparked a Twitter tizzy Saturday thanks to video featuring the molasses drawl and colorful vocabulary of Louisiana State football coach Ed Orgeron.

“Bring your a-- on, in your sissy blue shirt,” Orgeron shouted at Witzling as the coach walked into a Rose Bowl tunnel from the team bus before the Tigers’

38-27 loss to UCLA. A day later, Witzling told The Times that he interpreted Orgeron’s words as a jab at Bruin Nation considering his shirt wasn’t blue, nor sissy, and the only people nearby clad in that color were his children.

“It’s nothing special,” Witzling said. “It’s like a team-issued black Jordan shirt.”

A video of the exchange garnered millions of views across various internet sites but did not include the context that prompted Orgeron’s taunt.

The Times showed the full sequence that started with David Witzling reminding Orgeron of what he had said before his final game as USC’s interim coach in 2013.

At an annual Conquest rally during the week of the game against UCLA at the Coliseum, Orgeron said, “Come Saturday night, we’re gonna let those little boys from across town into our stadium and we’re gonna lock the gates.”

UCLA defeated USC 35-14, and Orgeron was informed two days later that he would not get the permanent job, which

went to Steve Sarkisian.

Aaronson gave the U.S. (0-0-2, 2 points) a short-lived lead in the 55th minute, charging through the center of the box to slide onto a left-footed cross from Antonee Robinson and redirect it past Canadian keeper Milan Borjan from close range.

The U.S. had the ball more than 70% of the game and outshot Canada 11-6 but saw Borjan make a pair of acrobatic saves in the opening 27 minutes while another first-half shot struck the right goal post. Turner made a tough save on Larin early, reaching with his right hand to slap a shot wide while going to the turf.

The Americans were missing three starters, scratching goalkeeper Zack Steffen (Covid-19) and forward Gio Reyna (right hamstring strain) for health reasons,

then suspending midfielder Weston McKennie, with McKennie taking to social media to say that he violated the team’s Covid protocols.

And they lost another late in the first half when right back Sergiño Dest was subbed off because of an apparent injury.

On the plus side, U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter did get captain Christian Pulisic back from his own Covid-related absence.

Jamaican referee Oshane Nation struggled all night to get control of an emotional match that grew increasingly chippy, with his few stops in play robbing the game of its pace and rhythm.

This is the second time in four years the U.S. has opened the final round of World Cup qualifying winless after two games.

On the wrong end of a sweep, the A’s embraced optimism. Three losses in Toronto brought a variety of vexation.

Their bullpen cratered the first two days. Twice, their starters did not finish four innings.

Resiliency will be required. They emerged from Sunday’s finale – at least for the moment, pending Seattle’s result – a third-place team.

“Obviously we’ve been on a skid lately and that’s not good,” third baseman Matt Chapman said. “But I think there are some positives we can take away. We’ve been swinging the bats well, playing good defense. Pitching is something that’s been solid for us all season.

So, we’re a team, we win as a team, we lose as a team, and I know that we’re going to be able to tighten everything up and we’re going to play a lot of meaningful baseball down the stretch.”

Until Aug. 22, two weeks ago, the A’s had owned at least a share of a playoff spot for four months. They entered Sunday four games out of the second wild-card spot and 5 1/2 games behind the AL-West leading Astros, a streaking Mariners team even with them in the standings. The A’s face those teams exclusively in their final 13 games of the season, playing seven against Seattle and six against Houston.

“We believe in the locker room that this is a playoff team and we’re talking to each other like we are,” left-hander Cole Irvin said. “There’s no lost conviction in the eagerness of this team to get to the postseason. So, we’re fighting for each other every day. Today was clearly on me. I didn’t give our team a chance to get back into that game.”

The A’s trailed 7-0 before their first hit Sunday. Irvin delivered one of his best outings all season against the Blue Jays in Oakland in May, working eight one-run innings. He

did not escape the third this time.

Irvin worked a clean first inning. Bo Bichette opened the second with a single and Alejandro Kirk singled with one out. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. drove a fastball off the right-field wall. Chad Pinder hit the wall chasing it the baseball caromed for a two-run triple. Pinder was shaken but stayed in the game.

Gurriel drove in 10 runs in the threegame series. Randal Grichuk scored him with a ground-rule double. Semien had three hits in the series against his former team, but two were home runs, one a walk-off in the opener. He led off the third Sunday by driving an Irvin fastball for his 35th homer of the season.

Kirk lined a breaking ball for a three-run homer later in the inning. It chased Irvin at 50 pitches. Toronto hitters swung at 28 and missed just one as Irvin fell short of finishing five innings for a third straight start. A’s starters have worked five or fewer innings in 13 of their last 21 games.

“Wasn’t executing down at the bottom of the zone, wasn’t expanding my changeup horizontally,” Irvin said. “I’m mixing good pitches in and out, but when it’s thigh-line across and I’m not giving them any look up and down, I’m going to be hit hard.

And that’s been the tale of the tape in the past few outings.”

Oakland scored 41 runs in the first five games of the road trip. Robbie Ray, the AL Pitcher of the Month for August, held the A’s hitless into the fifth.

The left-hander poured in fastballs, throwing 75 on 107 total pitches.

The A’s swung at 46 fastballs, missing or fouling 38 and putting eight in play at an average of 86 mph off the bat.

California has Labor Day woe: Shortage of workers

A

n acquaintance had some good news to impart last week: Her son, who operates construction machinery, just got a raise from $43 an hour to $57.

That sounded outlandishly high – the equivalent of well over $100,000 a year – but the most recent “prevailing wage” schedule for Northern California public works projects confirms that $50-plus per hour is commonplace. And that doesn’t include more than $30 per hour in fringe benefits.

It explains why government construction is costly in California, but also undermines the popular belief that one must Dan Walters have a college degree to get a well-paying job.

As well as marking the unofficial end of summer and the beginning of autumn, Labor Day honors the men and women who do the real physical work that society needs to function.

They operate machinery, fix our cars and appliances, build our houses, cultivate and deliver our food and do hundreds of other vital tasks.

As I’m writing this column, I’m waiting for a plumber to clear a plugged-up drainage pipe, the kindred soul of the electrician who repaired a faulty circuit a couple of weeks ago.

It’s what happens when you live in a nearly 70-year-old home.

Oddly, although California has the nation’s highest poverty rate and one of its highest unemployment rates, employers have hundreds of thousands of jobs going unfilled – from teachers, carpenters and auto mechanics to farmworkers and even hamburger flippers.

It’s not uncommon for fast food chains to offer $15 per hour, but still not get enough applicants.

The worker shortages indicate that the pandemic may have wrought at least a semipermanent change in California’s employment scene, and if it persists, it will have a negative impact on the state’s economy.

In decades past, when California has experienced labor shortages, we could count on an inflow of workers from other states and nations to fill the gaps. But foreign migration has slowed to a trickle and California loses more people to other states than it gains.

The Public Policy Institute of California has studied those trends and found that those lacking college educations are most likely to leave the state while those with higher education degrees are more likely to come here from other states.

The exchange may help industries demanding higher education levels and paying high salaries, such as Silicon Valley, but it bodes ill for filling blue collar jobs and even professional positions that are not especially lucrative, such as teaching.

Ironically, California’s high housing costs drive away the very people we need to build more housing. The situation implies that California must do better in generating skilled workers within itself, rather than relying on migration, and there are some hopeful indications of that attitudinal change.

A recent announcement by Chaffey College, a community college in Fontana, is one such indication. It has received a $2.9 million state grant to build a new welding training facility that will double the number of trainees. Welders are much in demand and earn premium wages.

The Legislature passed a bill last week to promote blue-collar trades among high school students.

“We must ensure that trade apprenticeships are presented as an option,” the author of the bill, Assemblyman James Ramos, a Highland Democrat, said. “These programs expand workforce opportunities for young people and create a pipeline of skilled employees receiving competitive wages.”

The Chaffey grant and Assembly Bill 643 are refreshing signs that the college-for-all mentality is finally giving way to the reality that we need to train more Californians to do our vital work.

Local recalls are expensive. If you can piggyback on a regularly scheduled election, think $400,000. If it’s a special election, figure double that.

None of our cities need that kind of out-of-the-blue financial blow. We have streets to pave, parks to maintain, summer youth programs that need support, not to mention police, fire and so on.

Let’s wait for regular elections.

Biden will face scrutiny about why he so misjudged the strength of Afghan government forces and leadership, which disintegrated in 11 days, and why the effort to evacuate Americans and at-risk Afghans wasn’t carefully planned. Most of the criticism didn’t focus on his decision to withdraw U.S. forces, but his administration of that plan that has come under scathing review.

The consequences are enormous and will reverberate for decades. But what did our delusional president do?

He shamelessly took a victory lap for the deadly evacuation.

This was a descent into chaos by a clearly cognitively impaired, failed president. Impeachment and the firing of the Secretary of State, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense is warranted but will probably not happen. Shame on them all.

2 new films focus on 9/11 terrorist attacks Amy Maginnis-Honey

FAIRFIELD — A plethora of motion pictures hit screens this week.

Opening Wednesday is “Star-Crossed: The Film,” featuring Kacey Musgraves. It’s inspired by Musgraves’ album and is a modern tragedy in three acts.

It’s not rated.

Thursday’s debuts are: “No First Responders Left Behind,” which was shot over five years. The documentary reveals the unwavering fight led by Jon Stewart, John Feal and Ray Pfeifer as they take on the U.S. government to get health care and benefits for the thousands of responders who have life-threatening and financially devastating illnesses from toxins released at Ground Zero after 9/11. It’s not rated and will be on Discovery+ “Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali,” which tells the story of the friendship between two of the most iconic figures of the 20th century. It’s rated PG-13 and can be viewed on Netflix.

“Rush: Cinema Strangiato – Director’s Cut,” which takes an alternate “director’s cut” of 2019’s feature, giving audiences a special look into R40 LIVE, with a revamped setlist including new additions of bonus tracks “One Little Victory” and “Red Barchetta” as well as “Cygnus X-1/ The Story So Far,” featuring drummer Neil Peart’s final recorded drum solo masterpiece.

It’s not rated.

Friday film releases are: “Azor,” set in late 1970s Argentina. It’s the story of a private banker who arrives from Geneva

with his wife to replace a colleague who has mysteriously disappeared in military-ruled Buenos Aires. It’s not rated.

“Catch the Bullet,” a western with Peter Facinelli, from the “Twilight” franchise, that shows what happens when a good man is pushed too far. A U.S. marshal returns from a mission to find his father wounded and his son kidnapped by an outlaw.

He forms a posse with a gunslinging deputy and a stoic Pawnee tracker.

Tom Skerrit also stars.

It’s rated R. “Come From Away,” filmed live on Broadway, which tells the true story of 38 flights grounded in a small Canadian town Sept. 11, 2001.

It’s not rated.

“Dating & New York,” the tale of a couple, two dating-app-matched millenials, who draw up a “Best Friends with Benefits” contract to avoid the pitfalls of past relationships. It’s rated PG-13.

“Firedrake the Silver Dragon,” an animated film about a young dragon who summons the courage to seek a mythical paradise where dragons live in peace and fly free. It’s not rated.

“Hood River,” set in a small Oregon town, which focuses on a high school soccer team struggling to overcome their class and racial divides in a quest for both individual and team success. It’s not rated.

Lynn, Wallen line up country music stars for Tennessee flood relief

A few days before Lynn’s show, embattled country star Morgan Wallen will also return to the stage to assist with flood relief after being largely cast out of the music industry last year for using a racial slur.

The “Whiskey Glasses” singer is rallying Nashville hitmakers Hardy, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, Lainey Wilson, Josh Thompson, Ernest, Ben Burgess, Lathan Warlick and Jared Mullins for the gig. The acoustic Morgan Wallen & Friends concert takes place this coming Wednesday at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works and benefits the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.

“I have been touched and heartbroken by the stories I’ve heard from the recent flood and its impact,” Wallen tweeted Thursday. “Wanted to do my part to help. Proud that this is my first official show in a long time. Hope you guys can make it on such short notice.”

Tickets for the concert, taking place at the 1,500-capacity venue in Nashville, sold out in minutes, according to the Tennessean.

Meanwhile, recovery efforts across Louisiana and the Northeast are still underway as numerous states deal with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Ida’s destruction. Countryturned-pop star Taylor Swift pledged $1 million to Louisiana flood-relief efforts last month.

Tribune Content Agency Country music stars are joining forces in Nashville, Tennessee, for a series of concerts benefiting victims of the severe storms and flooding that have overtaken parts of the state.

Country legend Loretta Lynn is rounding up Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Luke Bryan and Luke Combs for a Sept. 13 show at the famed Grand Ole Opry House in support of United Way Humphreys County and other flood relief measures.

Lynn’s “Hometown Rising” event will be broadcast on Circle Network – a joint venture between Opry Entertainment and Gray Television – and livestreamed on Circle All Access on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, according to a statement.

“I am so honored that so many of our friends are coming together to show so much love for our neighbors and community after such a devastating loss,” the coal miner’s daughter said in a statement. “You know, we’ve all needed help from time-to-time, and that’s why when we can give back, we do.”
