It’s a two-week-long online experience, with virtual tours and new videos every day designed to open the doors to the public and showcase the organization’s work rescuing waterbirds in crisis. Bird Rescue is sharing these free events through July 23 as part of its

golden anniversary. There are also downloadable activities for young and old alike. The videos highlight the work Bird Rescue has been doing to rescue waterbirds at its two California wildlife centers, including the San Francisco Bay-Delta Center in Fairfield. The organization also operates an Alaska Wildlife Response Center in Anchorage. Covid-19 protocols prevented Bird Rescue from welcoming visitors into their centers these past 18 months. The wildlife rehabilitation centers have continued to operate as an essential service

without interruption throughout the public health crisis. are currently There 719 birds in care, including more than 270 recently admitted elegant tern chicks at the Southern California Center, which is “ground zero” for a seabird rescue event after a colony nesting on barges was disturbed in Long Beach Harbor.
