Solano residents, businesses escape delinquent lists of state tax board

FairField — individuals and corporations behind in paying their income taxes owe california $178 million, the state Franchise tax board announced thursday. there were no solano county individuals or county-based corporations on the top 500 delinquent taxpayers lists.
“in august, Ftb sent letters to taxpayers scheduled to appear on the list. Of these taxpayers, 125 made arrangements to pay their tax debt. another 316 individuals and 59 businesses did not, resulting in their inclusion on the list,” the agency said as part of the statement. there are 25 individuals who owe more than $1 million, the largest for $5.51 million. there are four corporations with tax bills greater than $1 million, the largest for $2.83 million. the lists are typically

suisun city — Former councilman Mike Hudson’s five-vote lead over former police chief thomas d. alder for the second of two city council seats held up thursday based on updated vote counts.
Hudson led alder by three votes nov. 13. He led by five votes Monday, tuesday and wednesday. alma Hernandez remains in the overall lead in the four-candidate field with 33.28% of the updated tally, the solano county elections Office reports. Hudson has 22.56% – 4,205 votes – to alder’s 22.54% – 4,200 votes. appointed councilman anthony adams is fourth with 21.26% – 237 votes behind alder.
Hudson and alder were tied for a time based on early results posted on election day and have since gone back and forth as additional votes have been counted in the suisun city contest. the two were tied once again nov. 12.
Vote totals in all contests are unofficial as the ballot counts continue at the solano county elections Office in downtown Fairfield. Friday is the final day for the registrar of Voters to receive ballots with a valid postmark date of nov. 3 or earlier.
Fairfield City Council updated counts in Fairfield show that two newcomers and one veteran councilman remain on track to earn seats on the Fairfield city council in its first-ever district-based election. scott tonnesen maintains his lead over raymond courtemanche for the new district 2 seat on the council. tonnesen’s leads with 50.68% of the vote as of the end of the day thursday, the elections office reports. courtemanche has 48.74% – 88 votes back with the 4,536 ballots thus far counted.
One vote was added to the total from wednesday to thursday. current city council member rick Vaccaro remains on track to be the first representative in Fairfield’s new district 4, having earned 40.63% of the unofficial vote compared to 30.23% for delon Jackson and 28.71% for Kam Holzendorf. those percentages were also unchanged day over day. doriss panduro maintains a commanding lead in a two-candidate field to represent the city’s new district 5, with 73.21% of the vote thus far compared to 25.99% for Jeremy Ferrell. this is a two-year seat, as opposed to the traditional four-year term. the percentages were unchanged from wednesday’s update.
Vacaville City Council roy stockton remains ahead in the four-candidate district 1 city council race with 37.89% of the vote. Michael e. silva (54.9%) leads in a two-candidate field for the city’s district 3 contest. Jason roberts leads sherie Mahlberg by 74 votes in the district 5 race, 50.27% to 49.25%, with 7,297 ballots counted. last week, was a major effort to verify the results of the presidential election. He sought the recount following political pressure from trump allies who questioned georgia’s results.
“georgia’s historic first statewide audit reaffirmed that the state’s new Jeanette wylie (39.6%) leads appointed council member raymond beaty (37.17%) in the four-candidate contest for the city’s two-year district 6 seat.
Select Solano schools contests incumbent amy sharp leads bonnie Hamilton in a tight contest for the area 2 seat on the solano county board of education, 49.84% to 49.77% – a lead of 24 votes among the 30,952 ballots thus far counted.
One incumbent and two challengers lead races for three seats on the Fairfield-suisun school district governing board. incumbent bethany smith leads cliff gordon for the area 1 seat, 51.58% to 48.12%. Former trustee Helen tilley leads incumbent Joan K. gaut in a three-candidate field for the area 2 seat, 47.2% to 42.26%. ana petero leads incumbent John p. silva for the area 6 seat, 56.37% to 43.23%. the next update is expected at the end of the day Friday. updated information on solano’s vote can be found at www.
Georgia manual recount confirms Biden presidential victory
atlanta — a manual recount of nearly 5 million president donald trump. secretary of state brad
initial machine counts. it also uncovered almost 6,000 ballots in four counties that had been overlooked in the initial tally, resulting in trump closing his deficit to biden by 1,400 votes. both counts found the same outcome: thousands more voters in georgia chose biden than trump. in addition to the votes trump gained from the newly discovered ballots, he also picked up nearly 500 additional votes in the manual tally. the machine count showed trump trailing by 12,780 votes. the recount and audit, ordered by raffensperger
