It includes more than 100 Yolo-based organizations participating in Big Day of Giving (BDOG) 2022 on Thursday, May 5. BDOG is a project of our partner, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.

Since 2013, BDOG has helped 700 nonprofits in our region to raise $65 million from 55,000 donors. It ’s an incredible force for local philanthropy.

We hope you’ ll join us in thanking the Yolo County Association of REALTORS® for making this directory possible, thus supporting all of the featured nonprofits in their BDOG campaigns and beyond.

Yolo A.R. is a professional trade association for local REALTORS® and real estate affiliate professionals that provide ancillary services within the trade. Part of the association’s mission is to help its industry professionals become “exceptional members of their community by … volunteering for causes they feel passionate about.” Association members also collaborate on a number of fundraising activities to support local nonprofits.

This BDOG, there is particular urgency to give. We recently released our Yolo Community Foundation State of the Yolo Nonprofit Sector report, which you can find at https://bit.ly/YoloNonprofitSector2022.

A few highlights, which compare 2021 to before the pandemic: • While need for nonprofit services has spiked, nearly half of respondents report that revenues were flat or down.

• Individual donors like you are critical – two-thirds of respondents report that giving from individuals was up. Almost three quarters report total 2021 revenues less than $500,000, so your donations go far.

• Nonprofits report that event income (66% of respondents), earned revenue (27%), and foundation giving (32%) were down.

• More than 80% of respondents say they are concerned about staff burnout.

Said one, “ To say we’re stretched thin is an understatement.”

• While three-quarters say their need for volunteers is the same or higher, close to half say volunteer support is down.

• Respondents are less concerned that an ongoing pandemic will lead their own organizations to close permanently (11% vs. 23% in November 2020), though nearly three-quarters expect some Yolo nonprofits to shut down. However, more than half are concerned that they might have to cut programming.

Friends of Yolo County Animal Services

The Friends of the Yolo County Animal Services primary objective is to assist the Yolo County Animal Services, Sheriff ’s Office of Yolo County, in its mission to improve the welfare of animals in Yolo County.

NorCal Boxer Rescue

NCBR is a foster-based rescue for boxer dogs in northern California.

We prioritize the most vulnerable dogs, including those who are old, ill, injured, or housed at the shelters where the risk of euthanasia is the greatest.

Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue

The mission of Rotts of Friends is to educate and prevent irresponsible breeding and ownership of animals through the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of discarded and abused animals into forever homes.

ShepHeroes

ShepHeroes is a non-profit rescue organization with an experienced team of volunteers focused on carefully placing German Shepherd Dogs into loving homes matching their temperament, activity level, and needs.

We focus on GSDs who are at risk due to abandonment, neglect, and abuse, or significant change in circumstances.

Yolo County SPCA

Our mission is to continuously improve the welfare of animals in the community through programs that promote the adoption of homeless animals into permanent and loving homes, provide humane education, advocate for spaying/neutering companion animals, and support trapping, altering and return of community cats.

Arts & Culture Acme Theatre Company Our mission is to present plays of high literary quality while providing opportunities for young people to learn acting and technical theatre skills through peer and adult mentorship in an environment of mutual trust, respect, and responsibility.

Bike City Theatre Company

Our mission is to create theater that is sustainable, invested in the community, and vibrantly, provocatively theatrical. We are a center for new work and creators of bespoke educational theater for young audiences.

Davis Arts Center

Davis Arts Center is a gathering place for dynamic engagement with the arts. Through multidisciplinary classes and programs for the regional community, we inspire creative expression in people of all ages and foster an environment for the arts to flourish.

Davis Children’s Chorale

The Davis Children’s Chorale enriches our children’s and community’s lives through learning, singing and performing choral music, nurturing a lifelong love for music.

Davis Media Access Our mission is to enrich and strengthen the community by providing alternatives to commercial media for local voices, opinions, and creative endeavors.

Davis Musical Theatre Company The mission of Davis Musical Theatre Company (DMTC) is to conserve the Classic American Musical art form. DMTC will endeavor to produce quality, affordable, family-oriented theatrical musicals open to all people.

Davis School Arts Foundation Arts and cultural education is crucial to the development of all children. The Davis School Arts Foundation provides partnership and support of culturally relevant arts education for children in Davis public schools. We do this through project grants, advocacy and arts integration training for educators.

International House Davis International House Davis (I-House) connects people, experiences, and perspectives within a global framework. Our programs, classes, services, and events provide opportunities to learn about and experience cultures from around the world, while building connections within our diverse local community.

Pamela Trokanski Dance Theatre The mission of The Pamela Trokanski Dance Theatre is to redefine dance as an active art form and an integral part of the human experience for all ages and all degrees of technical training.

Pence Gallery The Pence Gallery’s mission is to serve the community through displaying high caliber art exhibits, supporting the development of local and regional artists, and offering educational programs for visitors of all ages.

West Sacramento Historical Society The West Sacramento Historical Society is an all volunteer group of dedicated individuals interested in preserving, collecting, educating, exhibiting, and interpreting the history of West Sacramento and its surrounding diverse community.

Winters Museum The Winters Museum and the Historical Society of Winters are dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Winters and the Winters area through educational events, research, oral histories, and photo and artifact exhibits.

Big Day of Giving 2022 — Yolo Community Foundation — Page 5 Woodland Opera House Inc The Woodland Opera House has enjoyed continued success in its mission to preserve and operate this historical, community treasure for the benefit of the area and to nurture performing arts.

Yolo County Fair Museum The Yolo County Historical Society is working with the Woodland Parlor 30 Native Sons of the Golden West, the 40th District Agricultural Association Board of Directors, and other local historical groups to convert a fairgrounds office building into the Yolo County Fair Museum.

YoloArts YoloArts believes arts and cultural practices transform our daily interactions by sparking dialogue, building empathy, and encouraging shared experiences. We strive to inspire a flourishing arts and cultural ecosystem in Yolo County by serving the community, individual artists, and arts organizations.

Civil Rights, Social Action & Advocacy Davis Phoenix Coalition The mission of the Davis Phoenix Coalition is to gather and engage the community to eliminate intolerance, for the purpose of preventing hate motivated violence and cultivating a civic culture that embraces and promotes all aspects of the city’s diverse community.

The People’s Vanguard of Davis The People’s Vanguard of Davis is a community-based watchdog and news reporting organization that publishes daily coverage of local government and criminal justice reform.

Yolo County CASA Our CASA volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster system to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met. We champion, without compromise, for the best interest of every Yolo County foster child.

Community Improvement Bike Davis Our mission is to encourage and promote bicycling, improve infrastructure, influence policy, and advocate for a vibrant bicycle culture in Davis, California.

Bryte and Broderick Community Action Network Inc. The Bryte and Broderick Community Action Network (BBCAN) implements and supports programs and projects to meet the aspirations of our diverse community by working with the City, non-profit and faith-based organizations, schools, and businesses toward sustaining a healthy, informed, and engaged community.

Cool Davis The Cool Davis mission is to inspire our community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to a changing climate, and improve the quality of life for all. We engage in our mission with a philosophy of fun!

Friends of the Woodland Public Library The Friends of the Woodland Public Library (FOL), a nonprofit corporation, is an association of persons interested in books and libraries, whose purpose is to enrich the cultural and civic life of Woodland and to support the Woodland Public Library in its mission.

iDream-The Mac Give Back Project iDream-The Mac Give Back Project provides technology/ training to those who have a need.

Our mission is to find those who reside on the side of the digital divide that contains limited or no access to technology.

Kyws-lp 92.9 FM West Sacramento Neighbors Fair mission is to bring information and news to residents and visitors in West Sacramento to enhance community, cooperation, and conversation. The mission is further dedicated to providing our youth with communication tools to further their education in broadcasting and radio technology as career paths.

Winters Friends of The Library The Winters Friends of the Library is an all volunteer organization. We promote library involvement, increase literacy, foster a love of reading, and enhance community culture.

Winters Senior Foundation The Winters Senior Foundation is a local non-profit, all volunteer, community-based organization representing and advocating for the senior population in the City of Winters and surrounding areas.

Woodland TV (Formerly known as WAVE TV Channel 21) Woodland TV provides the opportunity for our community to speak and share freely through public access media.

Yolo Conflict Resolution Center We are a community-based center working to help people resolve conflicts by delivering mediation, facilitation, education, and restorative justice services.

Yolo County Library Foundation The Yolo County Library Foundation (YCLF) supports Yolo County Library’s mission to “provide access for all to ideas that inform, entertain, and inspire.”

Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance The Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance promotes the well-being of older adults through Education, Collaboration, and Advocacy.

Economic Development New Season Community Development Corporation New Season Community Development Corporation seeks to revitalize the downtown area of Esparto and the small towns in rural northwestern Yolo County. We purchase properties, rehabilitate them, and find new commercial tenants with businesses that will add to the local economy and create new jobs for community residents.

Education Creating Opportunities for Educational Development COED COED was created to provide financial and professional support to deserving yet underprivileged students who could not otherwise afford higher education.

Davis Robotics Foundation We transform our communities through education; we engage people of all ages through outreach; we inspire others with our commitment to excellence. We strive to Educate, Empower, and Excel.

Davis Schools Foundation Engage the greater Davis community to mobilize resources and provide financial support to our local public schools, helping to ensure effective and equitable learning environments that emphasize social, emotional, and physical well being for all students.

University Farm Circle

“To ignite and foster curiosity about science and nature through inquiry and discovery.” Explorit’s mission is achieved by providing onsite and traveling school based programs that engage students, parents and families in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) learning through hands-on, minds-on activities.

Founded in 1914, University Farm Circle connects the University of California at Davis campus with the surrounding communities through friendship, enrichment, and scholarships.

Friends of the 1883 Clarksburg Schoolhouse

Our mission is to restore the iconic 1883 Clarksburg Schoolhouse in order to establish a facility to enhance economic activity in Clarksburg and the Delta by creating a Delta Welcome Center.

Friends of the Clarksburg Library

Friends of the Clarksburg Library ensures a place for learning, enrichment, and civic and community engagement in the rural community of Clarksburg.

Friends of the Yolo Branch Library

The Friends of the Yolo Branch Library supports the Yolo Branch Library in its service to the communities of Dunnigan, Yolo, Zamora, and the surrounding rural areas. We work in concert with the library staff to understand the communities’ needs, develop services to meet those needs, and build community engagement.

Friends of the Yolo County Archives

The Archives Preserves The Past And Saves Our Stories: Friends of the Yolo County Archives is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to support the services, staff, and facilities of the Yolo County Archives.

MOSAIC Children’s Museum

MOSAIC (Museum of Science, Art, Imagination, and Creativity) Children’s Museum enlightens, inspires, and empowers children in their lifelong learning journey while developing their imaginations and artistic abilities.

Tese Foundation

TESE Foundation arose from advocating and improving the lives of Black girls in the USA in the form of leadership accademy and a mentorship program, and in developing countries like Zimbabwe with food and shelter as well as tuition.

The Friends of the Esparto Regional Library

The purpose of the Friends of the Esparto Regional Library (FERL) is to promote lifelong learning and discovery through the promotion of literacy. The mission of FERL shall be to establish closer relations between the Esparto Regional Library, the communities it serves along with the local school district.

West Sacramento Friends of the Library The West Sacramento Friends of the Library (WSFOL) supports the Arthur F. Turner Community Library by raising funds to develop diverse collections, encourage reading and literacy programs for all ages, and promote the library as an educational and cultural center for the entire West Sacramento community.

Winters Education Foundation Our mission is to raise sufficient funds to ensure continued educational excellence and equal educational opportunities for every child in a Winters public school classroom.

Winters Music Boosters Winters Music Boosters is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial support and volunteer assistance to help maintain the music programs in Winters public schools.

Winters Participation Gallery Winters Participation Gallery sponsors the Winters Historical Mural Project, providing a unique creative and artistic opportunity for Winters’ youth to learn about the town’s history and translate that into an exterior mural, beautifying Winters one wall at a time.

Environment Cache Creek Conservancy The Cache Creek Conservancy preserves, restores, and enhances the Cache Creek watershed.

Putah Creek Council Our mission is to protect and restore habitat in the Putah Creek bioregion for the benefit of all. Putah Creek Council supports regional ecosystems through advocacy, education, and community-based stewardship.

CommuniCare Health Centers

Our mission is to nourish and enrich the lives of individuals in Yolo County with emphasis on those age 60 and older, by providing nutritious meals to active and homebound people thereby promoting their health, well-being, and independence.

CommuniCare Health Centers’ mission is rooted in the underlying philosophy that health care is a right, not a privilege. We provide comprehensive and high-quality health care to anyone in our community, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Winters Farm to School Our mission is to raise funds to provide fresh, local produce, fruits and nuts for our children’s school food program; to educate children about the positive, long-term health benefits of healthy eating habits; and to reconnect children to the rich, deeply rooted agricultural heritage in the community.

Woodland Volunteer Bureau Food Closet The Woodland Food Closet provides a basic, direct service.

Our clients are individuals, families, seniors, children and infants. The Woodland Food Closet is the only agency in Woodland to provide food distribution on a daily basis, Monday through Friday.

Yolo Farm to Fork Our mission is to educate the public, especially our children, about the value of a farm-to-table community food system that also teaches us to value the environment.

Yolo Food Bank Yolo Food Bank durably increases food and nutrition security and helps create an equitable and sustainable local food system by connecting individuals and families to healthy, high-quality food and resources; collaborating with community partners to deepen outreach and address food needs; and convening key players in the community.

Yolo Land Trust Yolo Land Trust has one simple & vital mission: to conserve farmland in Yolo County. We have partnered with over 40 family farmers who agreed to keep their farms in farming forever. Now, more than 12,000 acres in Yolo County will always grow food.

Health Clínica Tepati Clínica Tepati operates under a three part mission rooted in providing equitable health services, life-long education, and patient advocacy. Our advocacy stems from the belief that healthcare is an inherent right for all people.

New Hope Community Development Corporation We bring hope, stability, and education for better self-sufficiency and new lives, as well as an affordable place to live for Yolo’s most vulnerable, including our youth, former foster youth, working families, seniors, veterans, farmworkers, the homeless and disabled.

The Mercy Coalition exists as an expression of tangible and intangible embrace to those impacted by homelessness and poverty in West Sacramento. We are a diverse and inclusive interfaith collaborative, mobilized for works of compassion and empowerment, holding reverence and worth for each individual and the story they’re in.

Purple Tree Cafe

Our mission is to provide community-based employment for people with disabilities and to promote an inclusive community of people with and without disabilities. We provide employment in baking and selling vegan treats; we promote community through music, art, and community events.

Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC)

The mission of the Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC) is to provide immediate short-term assistance with basic necessities to Yolo County families and individuals with incomes below the poverty level.

Therapeutic Riding and Off-Track Rehabilitation At T.R.O.T.R, we are dedicated to providing adaptive riding lessons that uniquely fit the needs of our diverse students. We are also committed to helping our equine friends.

Yolo County Children’s Alliance Yolo County Children’s Alliance helps families, particularly non-English speaking families, access services, learn valuable parenting skills, and find support. We do this through family strengthening programs which focus on the following areas: family support, education, and community collaboration and advocacy.

Yolo Crisis Nursery

The mission of the Yolo Crisis Nursery is to provide early intervention services in a safe environment to nurture healthy and resilient children, strengthen parents, and preserve families.

Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network

YIIN (the Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network) is a group of people striving to collaborate with, advocate for and support our immigrant neighbors in Yolo County. We believe that by working together we can make our community a better place for all of us to live and thrive.

Mental Health & Crisis Intervention NAMI Yolo County NAMI Yolo County provides advocacy, support, education, and public awareness so that all individuals and families who are affected by mental health conditions can build better lives.

Suicide Prevention of Yolo County The mission of Suicide Prevention of Yolo County is to provide crisis prevention and intervention, education, and community outreach services to the residents of Yolo County.

Yolo Community Care Continuum Yolo Community Care Continuum is a non-profit organization established to better the lives of people with a mental illness through direct services, housing and homeless services, advocacy, education and volunteer efforts.

Yolo Community Care Continuum excels as a dynamic presence in our community.

Philanthropy Soroptimist International of Davis Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

West Sacramento Foundation Our mission is for, and about, the people of West Sacramento. The West Sacramento Foundation is an all-volunteer organization that helps local nonprofits become stronger and do more to improve the quality of life for children, teens, adults, and senior citizens.

Sandy actively supports a wide range of Yolo County nonprofits by giving, volunteering, and fundraising. She is on the fundraising committee for the Winters Senior Center Fund, and has been involved with American Field Service, the Winters Fireworks Fund (which she cofounded), Winters Soroptimists, and Saint Anthony’s Church. For the last several years, Sandy has spearheaded two popular Yolo County Association of REALTORS® fundraising events supporting RISE Inc., Backpacks and Brews (pictured top right), and Coats and Cocktails (bottom right).

We asked Sandy to tell us more about why she engages in the community.

What motivates you to support Winters and Yolo County nonprofits?

I come from a long line of givers.

My parents and grandparents were very involved in the community.

It’s in my DNA. I love my community, and I believe in giving back to those that have given to me. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would achieve what I’ve achieved in life, and I’m very grateful for that. I feel very blessed that I have the opportunity to help make things better for somebody else and for the community.

Do you give on Big Day of Giving? Why? On Big Day of Giving, I support organizations like Yolo CASA, the Yolo County Meals on Wheels, the Winters Museum, and Friends of the Winters Library. I like to give all year long, but the nonprofits are putting a lot of effort into trying to raise money on that specific day, so I like to

reward their efforts. It’s a very easy process to give on BDOG.

You’re on the board of directors of the Yolo County Association of REALTORS®, and you were the 2021 Realtor of the Year. Why and how are you and your Yolo A.R. colleagues so engaged in the community?

I know for me personally, and I think for all of my fellow REALTORS®, we make our living from our community. They support me and my business and it is my duty and obligation to support them and to give back.

You’re also on the fundraising committee for the Winters Senior Center Fund, which opened an agency fund at YCF last year. Why did you choose to support that particular cause?

I worked with Joe Aguiar at Winters High School, and he was a friend and colleague. It was always his vision that we have a Winters Senior Center. I wanted to be involved in Joe’s memory, and because I support the vision, I just think it’s important. In our town, we have that fabulous city wooden park for kids and various

Yolo A.R. supports nonprofits that feed, clothe, and house the people of Yolo County. We pick two nonprofits each year, then fundraise to support them. For instance, this year, we did a cornhole tournament on St. Patrick’s Day. We usually raise at least $15,000 per year for each recipient. We’ve supported organizations like Yolo County Meals on Wheels, the Yolo Crisis Nursery, the Yolo Food Bank, and Fourth & Hope. Each year, the Yolo A.R.’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) picks a community project, like a park cleanup, to participate in. At our Christmas Party, we have both a live and silent auction, and people write a check to the Yolo Food Bank or to STEAC for their purchases.

other parks with things for kids throughout our community, and we even have two dog parks, but we have nothing specifically for seniors. We sometimes feel like second-class citizens, the forgotten people, but we’re the people that help support this community and are a lot of the worker bees. Isolation has been a big problem for seniors during the pandemic, and that impacts mental health. I think it’s important that we have our own meeting place. I’m very excited about having our very own meeting place for seniors, which represent a very large portion of our population. I think it’s going to be a really nice facility, I can hardly wait for it to open.
