By Caleb Hampton Enterprise staff writer UC Davis’ class of 2022 will celebrate their graduation with three outdoor commencement ceremonies at UC Davis Health Stadium, the campus announced this week. The ceremonies are scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday,

A plan to consolidate undergraduate commencement from seven indoor ceremonies at The Pavilion (now called the University Credit Union Center) to three larger ceremonies at UC Davis Health Stadium was initially unveiled in 2019 — and scheduled for June 2020 — before the pandemic disrupted

UC Davis’ commencements for spring and fall 2020 were held virtually. In spring and fall 2021, modified limited-scale ceremonies were held in-person, with each event limited to 400 students, each of whom was allowed a maximum of two guests. Newsom offers the state a pep talk By Alexei Koseff

VOL. 124 NO. 30

The Davis Planning Commission gave the green light on Wednesday for an express car wash to be built next to the intersection of Mace and Cowell boulevards in South Davis. The currently vacant site at 480 Mace Blvd. has been home to the annual Boy Scouts Christmas Tree lot for a number of years and the applicants said they have been working with the scouts to find a new location. In approving a conditional use permit for the express wash, planning commissioners praised the project design, including the water-saving elements, and the fact that the applicants are longtime Davis residents. Those applicants, Evan Lyon and his father, Thomas Lyon, said the Davis Express Car Wash will bring the first certified WaterSaver car wash to Yolo County. To be certified as a WaterSaver, businesses need to use 40 gallons of water or less per car wash. The Davis Express Car Wash would use about half that per car, Evan Lyon told planning commissioners.
