Housing proposed for Shriners property

By Anne Ternus-Bellamy Enterprise staff writer Owners of the Shriners property east of Wild Horse Ranch have submitted a pre-application to the city proposing a large housing development. Davis Eastside LLC owns the 234acre parcel, which is currently zoned by the county as agricultural intensive. The site is directly east of Wild Horse Ranch, for which developer David Taormino has submitted a separate pre-application proposing 164 residential units, a pool complex and more on that 26-acre parcel. The proposal for the adjacent Shriner’s property includes between 1,100 and 1,200 residential units “geared toward families in varying lot sizes and densities on approximately 145 acres.” Also included are a 45-acre community park, 10 acres of greenways and 15 acres of ag buffer. “The primary objectives of this proposal are to create both a new

County vax rates vary by city, age Davis residents and adults over 30 have highest percentages By Anne Ternus-Bellamy Enterprise staff writer The percentage of Davis residents who remain unvaccinated against COVID-19 dropped to 13.8 percent this week from about 15.9 percent two weeks ago as children ages 5 to 11 as well as older residents continue to get vaccinated. Now 86.2 percent of the city’s residents have received at least one vaccine dose and 78.5 percent are considered fully vaccinated, according to data from the county. Davis continues to be the most vaccinated city in Yolo County.

Cities with the lowest vaccination rates include West Sacramento, where just 59.5 percent of residents are fully vaccinated and one in three residents have yet to receive a vaccine dose; Winters, where 57.5 percent of residents are fully vaccinated and 29.9 percent of residents are unvaccinated; and the towns of Dunnigan, Esparto, Guinda, Rumsey and Zamora. In Woodland, 78.7 percent of residents are at least partially vaccinated and 70.2 percent are fully vaccinated. Overall, 69.7 percent of county residents have received at least one dose (and 73.3 percent of residents over the age of 5) and 62.3 percent are fully vaccinated. But rates vary among age groups, with the highest rates among those over the age of 30,

By Lauren Keene Enterprise staff writer California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of an early-morning freeway collision in Davis that claimed the life of a 1-yearold girl Thursday morning. A 42-year-old man who was driving the vehicle sustained major injuries in the 4 a.m. crash, which occurred on eastbound Interstate 80 just west of the Richards Boulevard interchange.
