Enterprise staff writer Popular city of Davis summer camps like Camp Putah and Trekkers will not be offered this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the city will be rolling out a lineup of other offerings. Day camps, cooking camps, sports camps and specialty camps will be among the
The city’s summer recreation registration will be held on Tuesday, April 13, at 8 a.m. Registration will only be available online or by phone and a current liability wavier for each family member must be on file. “It is the hope that the later registration date gives families
more planning time and eases the financial commitment for the advance payment of summer camps,” the city said in a press release Tuesday. Registration for summer programs will be made available on a rolling basis, the city said. That means programs offered in mid-June to mid-July will be made available on April 13, while programs offered midJuly to August will become available for registration in early May. Numbers better; Yolo still purple BY ANNE TERNUS-BELLAMY Enterprise staff writer Yolo County remained in the purple tier on Tuesday, but all metrics used by the state to determine when local businesses can reopen for indoor operations continue to improve. The large number of testing being done here — including by Healthy Davis Together — continues to drive down both the test positivity rate and the adjusted daily new case rate. Numbers released by the state on Tuesday for the week ending Jan. 23 show a test positivity rate of

3.6 percent, which actually meets the threshold for the orange tier on the state’s color-coded blueprint for reopening. The blueprint requires a test positivity rate below 8 percent to move from purple to red and below 5 percent to move from red to orange. Likewise, the bonus given to counties that do a lot of COVID-19 testing is evident in Yolo County’s adjusted daily new case rate of 18.8 for the week ending Jan. 23. The county’s actual case rate for that week was 31.2 daily cases per 100,000 residents. Both numbers were

improvements over the previous week, when the actual daily case rate was 43.3 per 100,000 and the adjusted daily case rate was 21.6. Yolo County also continues to meet the requirement in the governor’s school-reopening framework that allows K-6 schools in counties in the purple tier to reopen for inperson instruction when the adjusted daily case rate falls below 25 per 100,000 residents for five consecutive days. Meanwhile, another metric considered by the

BY ANNE TERNUS-BELLAMY Enterprise staff writer Yolo County is expanding eligibility for COVID19 vaccine clinics being held this week to all residents of Yolo County 65 or older, regardless of medical insurance. The clinics are being held through Saturday in Esparto, Knights Landing, Woodland and West Sacramento. Originally this week’s clinics were only going to be open to residents of select cities and only for those 75 and older with no health insurance or who received care from community clinics.

The Davis school board will resume its ongoing discussion about when, and how, to reopen local elementary schools when the trustees meet on Thursday evening, Feb. 4, starting at 6:30 p.m. Included will be a discussion of the school district’s proposed model for hybrid instruction at the elementary school and preschool level — the hybrid being part in-person learning in a classroom with a teacher, and part online “distance learning.” During the school board’s Jan. 21 meeting, the trustees asked for some revisions and refinements to the initial staff proposal, and staff has been reworking the document over the past two weeks. In addition, Thursday’s school board meeting will also include an update regarding the Davis school district’s budget prospects in light of the January state budget revision, which Gov. Gavin Newsom made public on Jan. 8. There will also be references to Gov. Newsom’s Dec. 30 announcement of what he dubbed his “Safe Schools for All” program, which included a request for $2 billion in funding by the California legislature to set up a variety of financial incentives for California school districts to reopen more local school campuses during February.
