El Dorado County residents decked the halls, yards, roofs and more this holiday season, creating festive displays for eager Christmas light seekers to enjoy. And don’t forget to take a walk down Christmas tree Lane in Placerville. The traditional trees provided by the El Dorado County Christmas Tree Growers Association are worth a visit both during the day and night, left photo. Santa Claus had no trouble spotting this Royal Drive home in Cameron Park, above. The front yard is a colorful winter wonderland.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to rescue a trapped motorist after a solo vehicle wreck on westbound Highway 50 west of Ridgeway Drive in Pollock Pines Sunday. El Dorado County Fire Protection District first responders, assisted by a Cal Fire crew, successfully cut the 78-year-old driver free from his overturned 2014 GMC truck after responding to the 11:45 a.m. crash. Roger Beaver of Silver Springs, Nev., was transported to Marshall Hospital with suspected minor injuries, according to information provided by the California Highway Patrol. CHP officer Andrew Brown confirmed the agency is investigating why Beaver’s truck left the roadway and ended up in the trees. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. “There were no unusual roadway conditions,” Brown noted. “The road was dry and weather was clear. “A seatbelt was used by the driver and likely contributed to less severe injuries,” he added. “We want to remind drivers that wearing a seatbelt and driving sober is a lifesaving combo through the holiday season.”

It’s time to move on. That’s the consensus four El Dorado Hills Community Services District directors came to after discussing an investigative report related to the conduct of current Director Noelle Mattock and former Director Ben Paulsen. Though disappointed with the quality of the report and what some called blatant gaps in
