ORHS students back in class Village Life staff After seeing a COVID-19 spike amongst staff and students, Oak Ridge High School officials canceled inperson classes last week. “The move to distance learning was a precautionary move to prevent a large increase in quarantined students who would then miss the last two weeks of school,” explained Principal Aaron Palm in a letter to parents. “Over the course of this week we continued to (have) positive student cases of COVID-19 reported to us. County could face more restrictions

Village Life staff Using a region’s intensive-care unit capacity as the benchmark, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced new COVID-19 guidelines that could shutdown the entire state over the upcoming holidays. During a press conference last week, Newsom said any region where ICU bed availability falls below 15% would remain in lockdown for three weeks. Restrictions include the closure of hair salons and barbershops, bars, breweries and distilleries, casinos and indoor and outdoor playgrounds. Restaurants would be limited to take-out and delivery only and retailers would have to limit customers inside their stories to 20% capacity. Christmas wishes shared ... drive-thru style

Village Life photos by Sel Richard

Families drove through El Dorado Hills Community Park Saturday morning so little ones could share their Christmas lists with Santa Claus during the EDH Community Services District’s special drive-thru event. Above left, Eliana, 6, and Isabella De Ornelas, 4, of El Dorado Hills peek through the sunroof to get a look at the jolly fellow. Eliana asked for an American Girl doll while her little sister said she would like a tea cart and a Cry Babies doll. Above right, EDHCSD Director of Recreation Mike Cottrell hands out treats to Phoebe, 5, and Autumn Campbell, 7, from El Dorado Hills. Phoebe asked for a talking Mickey Mouse while Autumn wished for a Jessie doll from “Toy Story.” Parents Robert and Erica Campbell are all smiles.
