Ritzman bidding CPCSD farewell Jana Rossi Staff writer After 40 years of supporting community services districts, four of those years spent at the Cameron Park Community Services District, General Manager Jill Ritzman is ready to channel her energy into more personal things — her health and some traveling with her husband Bob. “We just upgraded our camper from a pop-up and plan to travel in the states,” Ritzman shared. “I’m looking forward to investing in myself and starting to think more about fitness and my overall well-being.” Ritzman joined the CPCSD in 2017 after previously serving as the El Dorado Hills Community Services District’s director of recreation. “The (Cameron Park) board asked me why I wanted the position and I told them I could help them bring about good change.” Courtesy photo

ameron Park native, mixed media artist and curator Christina Massey attended California State University, Chico, and immediately upon graduation set out to pursue her dream of being a working artist. Landing in Brooklyn, N.Y., Massey has spent nearly 20 years entrenched in the New York art scene. Not only has she become a well-established artist and curator, she creates opportunities for other female-identifying artists. In 2016, about five years after arriving in New York, Massey started publishing monthly interviews with female artists on her WoArtBlog. Two years later she began curating an Instagram account, @ woartblog, that can boast more than 12,000 followers and is dedicated to that same community of art-

Although exposure is a focus of WoArtBlog, Massey admits that a major goal for her is promoting and facilitating female-identifying artists getting paid for their work. “You don’t go to your doctor or lawyer or other professional and ask them to work for free because they’ll get exposure,” she said. “Being an artist is no different than other professions; artists should be paid fairly.” With this in mind Massey’s latest initiative is a partnership with 1stDibs.com, an online art sales platform where curated shows are presented on ■
