Local election results have been released DISTRICT 1 SUPERVISOR
Hidahl tops Briggs Sel Richard Staff writer In a long race that began almost a year ago, District 1 Supervisor John Hidahl has finally secured his second term on the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. With a vote count of 15,803, incumbent Hidahl trounced challenger and former District 4 Supervisor Ron Briggs’ 5,985 votes, garnering a 61.14% majority. Coming out with a strong lead early, Hidahl continued to soar, clinching an easy win by the close of the night. Hidahl has been fighting for his seat since the March primary where he emerged with just shy of the majority needed to win outright, forcing him to redouble campaign efforts, although Briggs only captured 24% of the primary vote. Much of the battle for the supervisor’s seat centered on what many consider a crucial issue to the community, Parker
Development’s proposed Central El Dorado Hills Specific Plan. The development requires a General Plan amendment to rezone the old executive golf course from recreational facilities/high intensity to residential. Briggs was vocal in his opposition to the plan while Hidahl took a more conciliatory tone, stating he is willing to consider a compromise but would not support the project as it currently stands. Over the summer the application was removed from the planning commission calendar pending a new traffic metric standard. Although Briggs graciously conceded, he said he’s pessimistic about the golf course’s fate. “It seems to me that the election paved the way for the rezone of the old golf course,” he said, pointing out that he ran heavily on killing the concept. Nevertheless, he maintains his high ■

Incumbents Paulsen, Mattock hold on to seats hold on to their seats. “Over the next four years I look forward to delivering on what the community wants,” said Mattock, thanking voters for their continued support. “I will work with the board, CSD staff, our partners and you to meet the needs of our growing community. I am humbled and honored to be re-elected to serve you, our great community, on the CSD board.” Mattock said she is excited to kick off construction of the Bass Lake project and promises to develop more trail connectivity and build new sports fields. “We are listening and now is the time for the community to share their voice in our 2021 Master Plan survey, which will help create the vision of our future,” she said. “Now is the time we move forward to work together and keep El
Sel Richard Staff writer It was a fight to the finish in the race to fill two seats on the El Dorado Hills Community Services District Board of Directors with newcomer and Promontory resident Sita Burgess giving incumbents Ben Paulsen and Noelle Mattock a run for their money. Paulsen garnered 12,323 votes (21.1%) and Mattock 12,639 (21.64%) to eke out a victory over Burgess’ 11,116 (19.03%), a strong showing for a candidate who arrived on the public scene a mere five months ago. Dan Sozzi, who withdrew from the race, still managed to nab 3,411 votes. Burgess’ meteoric rise was due to her involvement in recent community discontent with disruptive behavior around Kalithea Park and private property surrounding the
