Old executive golf course proposals pitched Sel Richard Staff writer

Dorado Hills Boulevard, the most controversial portion hinging on an El Dorado County General Plan amendment to allow a rezone of the old executive golf course from recreational facilities-high intensity to residential. In 2015 more than 91% of El Dorado Hills voters came out against a zoning change in an advisory ballot measure and four years later almost 500 residents protested at a Planning Commission hearing at District Church in January 2020. In response to an El Dorado County request for input on Parker Development’s Central El Dorado Hills Specific Plan development agreement, the El Dorado Hills Community Services District recently publicized several options previously discussed in closed session. Final county review of the project is expected in early 2022. Parker’s plan proposes approximately 1,000 residential units along El

“I am really hopeful we can work with the owner of the land and come to an agreement that residents cannot just live with, but love.” — Heidi Hannaman, EDHCSD board member final recommendation to the Board of Supervisors was then delayed due to coronavirus-induced shelterin-place orders as well as consideration of a new traffic evaluation metric. “There’s a lot that has happened behind the scenes,” shared CSD Board President

Noelle Mattock. “After the District Church meeting, very publicly the developer’s agent said that they would be willing to negotiate on that property. They just ended up not being a willing seller.” However, the CSD continued to explore possibilities for the old

golf course location that accommodate its current zoning. Three concepts were presented at October’s board meeting. The low-intensity concept offers mostly passive use and includes walking and jogging loops, parking, small picnic area, turf play area, dog park, small community building and fitness area. A moderate-intensity concept shows a bike skills area, parking, walking and hiking trails, dog park, 1,500 n

Michael Raffety Mountain Democrat correspondent More than 8 inches of rainfall measured just west of Placerville over two days has enhanced reservoir storage for the El Dorado Irrigation District. Along with a report of conditions, EID Operations Director Dan Corcoran provided some overnight information at Monday’s meeting of the EID Board of Directors. Additional water has flowed into Caples Lake in Alpine County, Silver Lake in Amador County and Echo Lake in El Dorado County. Jenkinson Lake received 800 feet overnight and Weber Reservoir had increased 20%. Flows into Folsom Lake were producing turbidy in the water pumped to the El Dorado Hills Water Treatment Plant. The district will likely soon shut down the El Dorado Hills plant and supply water from eastern water plants via the Gold Hill intertie. Corcoran also said, “Change is imminent” for the Outingdale water supply, meaning water truck deliveries will end and water will be pumped out of the reservoir behind the newly rebuilt dam. The new pumping station is being tested first.

Mohanna Development Co. went through its first conceptual review Oct. 19, receiving both praise and concern from El Dorado County residents and the Board of Supervisors. The resort village project along Highway 50 on Bass Lake Road in El Dorado Hills includes 503 townhomes, 134 Creekside cottages, 245 senior housing units and 390 apartment units. The conceptual plan use map shows the middle section of the property as an area for residential and commercial use, a riparian area on the north side around which housing units for onsite n

Over the Hill and Still Pumpin’, a team made up of 1962 grads of San Juan High School, Brad Donaldson, Mike Varin, Don Patterson and Gary Putnam, were among those competing in the first El Dorado County Handcar Race and Pusher Contest Saturday at the Shingle Springs Depot on the El Dorado Western Railroad. The event was put on by the Folsom Handcar Committee and Sam’s Town Cyclery.

Folks also had a go at pushing the 500-pound handcars down the tracks, above. Handcars were once used for railroad maintenance and in mining. Rancho Cordova team of Dan Bocinski, Carmain Cotham, Sara Bocinksi and Jerome Jeffries, right photo, some of whom have been handcar racing for more than 22 years, powers down the rails in Shingle Springs.
