Bass Lake residents are frustrated by redistricting Sel Richard Staff writer Bass Lake area residents, frustrated with the draft El Dorado County Board of Supervisors district boundary alternatives proposed, would like another option. Although more than 46,000 people reside within the El Dorado Hills area, the current redistricting effort aims to divide the county’s population equally among the five districts with a target of 38,237 residents per district, making it impossible to fold all of EDH into a single district. So far, the Bass Lake area has borne the brunt of potential redistricting fallout.

Supes take on redistricting this Thursday EDC Chief Administrative Office News release The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting Thursday, Oct. 14, to discuss redistricting and possibly provide staff with direction regarding map alternatives. The U.S. Constitution requires a count every 10 years of everyone residing in the United States. Census data is used for geographically defining state legislative districts in the year following a census. At the conclusion of each Census process, the county must conduct a process to analyze population data in order to redraw district boundaries to ensure that districts are substantially equal

Former UMHS teacher pleads guilty Thomas Frey Staff writer A pair of feeble guilty pleas were barely audible from former Union Mine High School drama teacher Ryan Michael Pullen as he admitted to felony possession of child pornography and misdemeanor child abuse in a Placerville courtroom earlier this month. Pullen, who had been teaching at Union Mine since 2014, was asked by Assistant Principal Lindsey Kovach in January to share videos of school events into a Google Drive folder to create a recruitment video for incoming eighthgraders. But, according to filings from the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, Pullen shared a “homemade edited video of multiple female students undressing and changing into costumes.”
When Pullen realized his error he “made up a story about accidentally sending pictures of his recently deceased mother and got permission from Kovach to go onto her computer and delete them,” states DA documents. Kovach was suspicious of his actions and demeanor and notified the school’s IT department staff; they went in and recovered what was deleted. They found the video reportedly appearing to have been filmed with a discrete, strategically placed camera and edited into a 7-minute segment of years of students undressing. It included bare breasts, up-skirt shots and thong underwear, according to documents. In total there were 15 different clips put together and edited with “slow motion, pauses and cutaways.” El Dorado County sheriff’s detectives ■
