Slowing down Dear Annie: I retired 11 years ago, but I could have been the obsessed woman addicted to her iPhone before I retired. But in the previous decade, as I lay in my hospital room, recovering from serious stress-induced internal surgery, I kept addressing the “pings” on my phone. My oldest daughter, a special needs faculty member at a local junior high school, took the phone from my hand and said, “Stop.” At first, I was frustrated. I felt cut off from my busy executive life as a local elected official. Eventually, I adjusted. Following six months of difficult recovery, where I only worked part time, I announced

Brief Project Description: The proposed project would extend the sunset date of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance from November 30, 2021 to November 30, 2022. This would allow the City to complete the economic feasibility study for which the City was awarded SB 2 grant funding. The City recently submitted the 2021-2029 Housing Element to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for certification. Through the Housing Element development process, one of the major concepts that came out of the community engagement process called for the City’s Housing Trust Fund to be overhauled to provide for more robust and reliable funding sources for the Fund, which was developed into a program in the Housing Element. A revised Housing Trust Fund and new Housing Element provide the City with an opportunity to coordinate those efforts with that of the amendment of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. In addition, there may be additional grant funding available to assist with this effort.
