Fire crews tackle Rescue blaze Mountain Democrat staff
A granny flat on a property in Rescue was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning. The blaze jumped from the structure to surrounding vegetation but firefighters were able to knock down those flames, keeping land burned to just under 1 acre. No one was living in the home and no injuries were reported, according to Deputy Chief Mike Lilienthal with the El Dorado Hills Fire Department. n

There is about an acre-and-a-half of water behind the dam. Though the project was not part of the capital improvement plan, it was authorized as an emergency measure and won a unanimous board vote. “It’s easier to go from the bottom up,” said Director George Osborne. Director Alan Day said there is a risk of things starting to fall apart as work progresses during the 45-day window. Work is expected to begin in two to three weeks. “I worry when the dam safety engineer calls (the dam) ‘troubling’,” said Board President Pat Dwyer.
