THE DAVIS ENTERPRISE
In sickness and in health Dear Annie: I met my husband in junior high and chased him for many of our teen years and even into early adulthood. One day, out of the blue, he sent me a message. I replied, and we talked every day — and night — for months. At that time, I was living in Cincinnati, and he was in our hometown of Toledo. A mutual friend had passed away, so we decided to go to the funeral together. I drove from Cincinnati to Toledo and picked him up. We ended up spending the weekend together. I went back home on Monday and ended up moving back to Toledo on Tuesday. Everything was perfect. He had asked me to marry him, and we got married. He is the most loving, caring and hardworking man I know. Nothing could go wrong, so I thought. But then, in September, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Since then, I feel so alone, and it is as if he isn’t here anymore. We barely cuddle or talk anymore. It makes me ask if he even loves me anymore. Is he seeing someone else? Or is he scared? He normally never acts like this, so I am confused and hurt — Confused Cancer Patient Totally in Love Dear Confused: I’m sorry to hear about your health issues, and that you’re experiencing feeling alone right now. Yes, your husband is probably very scared and does not know how to handle his feelings. Sometimes, when people don’t know how to handle negative emotions, they choose to push others away. If he acts like he doesn’t care about you or tries to put space between you two, he mistakenly thinks that then he won’t feel as bad if he loses you. He is repressing
his feelings by going on the offensive and pushing you away. Seek the help of a professional therapist, or perhaps a group at the hospital, who could help you both deal with this very difficult time in your life. While your husband gets himself together (with a trained professional), continue to lean on other friends and family who will support you. Wishing you a very speedy recovery.
Dear Annie: My husband and I have a beautiful house. We love to entertain. But a constant headache for us and our guests is the fact that my neighbor has several small dogs who are constantly yapping. We cannot go out for the mail without them barking. Forget spending time outside on our patio. Is this something we have to live with? I wonder if the neighbors are even aware of it: It seems to be an issue of the parents’ not hearing the kid screaming in the restaurant while everyone around does. — Canine Cacophony Dear CC: You’ve got the right attitude: Start by assuming that your neighbors aren’t even aware of the issue. Drop by their house for a friendly chat to enlighten them. If this is your first time really speaking with them, introduce yourself and spend a few
minutes getting to know them. Then segue toward the bark of the matter: “It seems that most times we go into our yard, it starts your dogs up. This is making it difficult for us to spend time outside. Would you consider keeping them inside more often — or are there any other solutions we can help with?” If they still need to leave their dogs outside for part of the day, propose jointly planting some privacy hedges along your property line to block the dogs’ line of vision. Befriending the dogs is another good option, if they aren’t physically aggressive. Ask your neighbors if you can spend some time visiting with the pups in their backyard, so they get accustomed to your scent and learn you’re not a threat. If the issue still persists and your neighbors don’t seem eager to resolve it, it might be time to file a formal noise complaint with the relevant body — a homeowner’s association, landlord, animal control or the police if you live in a rural area. Because the status quo isn’t just stressing out you and your husband; it’s stressing out the dogs. ——— Dear Annie: On occasion, I see letters from readers who are at a loss because family or friends have shut them out of their lives. This has happened to both my wife and myself. My wife was cut off by two of her nieces, simply because she voted for the “wrong” person in the 2016 presidential election. A friend of mine, who I rode motorcycles with, also shut me out of his life when he found out that during this last election, I voted for the “other guy.”
We have both moved on since this rejection from family members and my former friend. For me, it was a matter of forgiving my former friend and also forgiving myself. In doing so, I was able to accept the decision that my friend had made regarding severing our friendship. And by forgiving myself, I also realized that I was not to blame. When I voted in the last election, I did not cast my vote to make my former friend angry with me; I voted for the presidential candidate that I thought was the best person for the job. I still feel that way. Finally, when I chose to forgive my former motorcycle riding partner and myself, three things happened. First, I was able to move forward with my life. I continue to ride my motorcycle and have enjoyed doing so ever since. Secondly, I identified an individual who was unable to accept me for the individual who I am. I realize that it is important to be accepted for the person that I am. And, finally, I find that I have developed a greater appreciation for the friends and family who are currently in my life. I no longer take their friendship, or the closeness of family, for granted. — Another Point of View Dear Another Point of View: Forgiving others and yourself are two very powerful actions. Congratulations on your ability to do that.
Ex angry I’m dating
Dear Annie: I am 47 years old. I lost my husband of 23 years two years ago. Since he died, I’ve dated some men. And last year, I fell for a guy, “Roy.” Roy is in his 50s, and he seemed mature at first. I thought he knew what he wanted. He started living at my house and even proposed to me. I thought we’d be planning a wedding. But he changed his Contact Jessicca Sommerfeldt at routine suddenly, jessicca@davisenterprise.com to place your ad and one week soon after that, he started acting differently. I came to find out that he was talking to other women — exchanging risque Facebook messages and texts. let me know that we had any issues. A few months after he moved out, he started messaging me again when he was at work or whenever this other woman wasn’t around. I wasn’t interested in him romantically anymore (I’m seeing someone new), but I thought we could be friends. Finally, I was able to bring him his clothes and stuff, after six months. Well, just this week, he found out I’m with someone, and he gets mad at me. I don’t understand that. I’ve tried being friends, but then he ghosts me after two days of talking. What do you think: Should I cut everything off, or just leave it be? He has lied about us telling people I stole the engagement ring, which is not true. — Friend or Faux Dear Friend: All good relationships are founded on respect. Roy has not given you any of that — not before as a romantic partner, and not now as a “friend.” It’s nice to be amicable with exes whenever possible, but for toxic relationships, the healthiest option is usually to cut off all contact. Treat Roy like a biohazard and keep him out of your life, lest he contaminate your current relationship, too. ——— Dear Annie: In December, I was diagnosed with advanced non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I had no symptoms. The doctors accidentally discovered a huge tumor that was strangling both kidneys, during an unrelated procedure. The doctor said the tumor could be as old as 10 years. I started undergoing treatment almost right away, and last month, I was told that the kidneys were almost back to normal. Similarly, last year my mother noticed that her upper right abdomen seemed swollen. She went to the doctor and found out she had liver cancer, and two weeks later, she died. She had no other symptoms that I was aware of. The reason I’m writing is to encourage your readers to get a thorough medical checkup every year and don’t be afraid to ask your doctor questions about your health. — Ann S. Dear Ann: I’m sorry for the loss of your mother and sorry that you’re living with lymphoma. I hope you continue to recover and keep the cancer at bay. Your letter is a welcome nudge to schedule my annual physical, and I hope it will be to others, as well.

You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (844) 477-7869 or visit this Internet Web site WWW.STOXPOSTING.COM, using the file number assigned to this case 079399CA. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. NOTICE TO TENANT: Effective January 1, 2021, you may have a right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an “eligible tenant buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder,” you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this
right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call (855) 313-3319, or visit this internet website www.clearreconcorp.com, using the file number assigned to this case 079399-CA to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale. If you think you may qualify as an “eligible tenant buyer” or “eligible bidder,” you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase.
