A teenager and an adult male died from drowning at the American River confluence at the Placer County and El Dorado County line Monday evening, according to El Dorado County Sheriff ’s Office officials. EDSO, along with Placer County Sheriff ’s Office deputies, California State Parks personnel and local fire personnel, responded to a missing person and a possible drowning report at the incident ■ See DROWNING, page A8

The Cameron Park Community Services District kicked off this year’s 4th of July celebrations with the annual Summer Spectacular at Cameron Park Lake on Saturday. Bright, colorful fireworks launched from small floating barges left a beautiful reflection on the lake, as seen above.

Placerville DMV cuts back in-person services

Freedom revelers enjoyed a day filled with fun under the sun featuring food trucks, live music, bounce houses, a patriotic flyover and, of course, a fabulous fireworks show. Katrina and Dennis Caruso along with their 17-month old daughter Mekaylah, from Rescue, dressed patriotically for the Summer Spectacular in Cameron Park on June 22.

Recent visitors to the California Department of Motor Vehicles office in Placerville may have been surprised when handed a slip of paper informing them the office would no longer offer a list of previously common services. Starting June 3, the Placerville office no longer offers: • Vehicle registrations not past the due date • Driver’s license or ID card renewals that do not have in-office requirements • Requests for copies of vehicle registration records • Requests for copies of driver’s license records • Driver’s license or ID card replacements for lost or stolen cards
