Heroes honored in Memorial Day ceremony John Poimiroo Special to the Mountain Democrat El Dorado County honored those who fell in combat in a virtual ceremony broadcast Monday on Comcast Cable Channel 2 and streamed across Facebook. The ceremony marked the third successive time a ceremony at the El Dorado County Veterans Monument was pre-recorded instead of live due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. In Monday’s remarks El Dorado County Veterans Alliance President Gary Campbell noted the day as being “set aside for all to honor and recognize those who fell serving our great country. Extraordinary bravery under dire circumstances is also deserving of recognition on this day of remembrance … to be remembered for generations to come.” During the ceremony newly placed memorial bricks recognized the service of a family of veterans

Public workshops about redistricting, the process, mapping tools and other information will take place through the rest of the year. The first public meeting is scheduled at 9 a.m. Friday, June 4, via Zoom. Links to the meeting will be posted on the new website under the “public meeting” tab. “This is a great opportunity for the public to be meaningfully involved in a once-in-adecade effort that will shape the way they’re represented,” said Hidahl. “We urge everyone to participate and have their voice heard.”
