W

ith a poise and confidence, Oak Ridge High School junior Analise Gutierrez holds some unusual accomplishments in her back pocket. She is the first girl in El Dorado Hills to achieve the Scout BSA Eagle Scout rank, on top of already earning her Girl Scout Gold Award. Having joined Girl Scouts as a kindergartener, Gutierrez was firmly entrenched in the program as a high school freshman when her brother returned from his Scouts summer camp. “He just kept talking about how fun it was,” she remembered. So Gutierrez joined a local troop accepting girls, Troop 1855 in Folsom. Scouts BSA, formerly Boy Scouts of America, began admitting girls in February 2019. Troop 1855, under ■

In honor of Black History Month and Women’s History Month, Mr. Hodgin’s 11th grade U.S. history class at Oak Ridge High School worked in groups of up to four students to decorate 10 doors on the El Dorado Hills campus. Each door art was meant to articulate how the group’s person of choice, either a Black American and/or woman, had contributed to society.
