The Easter bunny kept kids busy in El Dorado County this past weekend, leaving eggs filled with goodies all over. Above, dozens of kids 12 and younger flocked to the upper field at Indian Creek Elementary School Sunday afternoon to participate in the Mother Lode Lions Club’s annual Community Easter Egg Hunt. The field was strewn with hundreds of colorful plastic eggs full of prizes for the children to collect in their baskets, bags and buckets. ■ SEE MORE PHOTOS ON A8

California Highway Patrol officer Trevor Gossett worked the night shift March 26. Less than two hours after he clocked out, the Placerville-based officer was as bright-eyed as he could be to receive the Officer of the Year award at the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills’ breakfast meeting. “I was pleasantly surprised,” Gossett said. Nominated by his peers, Gossett was commended for his professional demeanor and intelligent leadership as well as his kind and caring personality by Commander Rick Hatfield of the Placerville CHP Office. “We’re very fortunate to have him,” Hatfield said. Gossett is a 2018 CHP Academy graduate and for the last year and a half he has worked out of the Placerville office, which covers El Dorado County’s western slope. He’s one of 36 patrol officers on the team who ensures drivers are following the rules of the road and also serves on the CHP Honor Guard. In addition to praising his officer, Hatfield thanked the Rotary Club and county residents for their continued support of local law enforcement. “We are very fortunate to be working in El Dorado County,” the CHP commander said. “This is one of the most supportive communities I’ve worked in.” Prior to becoming a law enforcement officer, Gossett, who grew up in Texas before moving to ■ See GOSSETT, page A7
