Users get schooled on etiquette, safety Sel Richard Staff writer Six-year-old Henry Olson was thrilled to show off his newest trick at El Dorado Hills Community Services District’s Trail Etiquette and Safety Awareness Event Saturday. After getting his bike checked for safety, his mad dismounting skills were met with whoops and hollers. Henry was one of many bicyclists of all ages who attended the event aimed to increase standard trail etiquette and safety awareness with the CSD’s Share & Be Aware campaign. Participants were treated to free goodies and invited to answer a fun quiz with chances to win a bike bell or safety helmet. ABC (air, brake and chain) bike checks and See TRAILS, page 4

Montaño plans move onto the next round for approval Sel Richard Staff writer Traffic and noise issues headlined last week’s El Dorado County Planning Commission hearing on the Montaño De El Dorado Master Plan — a shadow that almost derailed the area’s expansion that currently houses Relish Burger and Pottery World, south along Latrobe Road to the Monte Verde intersection. The 16.85-acre proposed phase II expansion consists of nine commercial buildings with a combined total of approximately 80,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, commercial and office uses, a 55,136-square-foot, 100room Marriott Springhill Suites hotel, a community pavilion and 526 parking spaces. ■
