Garcia resigns from GDPUD

Dawn Hodson Staff writer The Georgetown Divide Public Utility District has lost another director. GDPUD Board of Directors President Michael Saunders at the board’s Feb. 9 meeting announced Cindy Garcia had tendered her resignation. Saunders read a statement Garcia posted to her Facebook page: “Sometimes you must let go of a dream in order to do your duty … My mother has suddenly become quite infirmed and I must now care for her full time. I simply cannot spread myself so thin as to try and do justice to both the GDPUD community and my family.” Garcia, who had been named board vice president in December, states she is relocating to Florida. “I have lived and

like he was doing some sit-ups. Kay noticed he was no longer moving and did not seem to be breathing — Kay and Jayne immediately began to administer CPR until emergency responders arrived on scene. Dan had suffered a heart attack. “I dropped dead,” said Dan,

“the girls (Kay and Jayne) did CPR and saved my life.” Between the efforts of his companions and the responding EMTs, the 60-year-old reportedly received CPR for nearly 25 minutes. He was rushed to Marshall See THRIVING, page A4
