“I

saw her and I thought, ‘She’s pretty cute,’” reminisced Al Macys of the Philadelphia hayride in 1949 that had him asking a pretty brunette for a turn on the dance floor. “He asked me to dance and I remembered it because he did not step on my feet,” laughed Helen. “Most of the other guys, the younger guys, when you danced with them they would step on my feet.” Al and Helen are 14-year residents of El Dorado Hills’ Four Seasons community. And more than 70 years ago, Al’s nimbleness was enough to get 16-yearold Helen thinking. She decided to ask him to her high school sorority’s Valentine’s dance the following spring. Impacts from the project would potentially cause a decibel level higher than what some think is already untenable. For the past 14 years, residents of Four Seasons, Stonebriar, Sierra Monte, Shadow Hills and Springfield Meadows have been alarmed by decisions of the Capital SouthEast Connector JPA, of which El Dorado County is a member, to complete road segments they worry will

Al and Helen Macys toast at their 1954 wedding. “I said carnations and he brought me an orchid,” Helen remembered. “So I guess he’s not broke. I was a little irked.” “Who wants carnations?” Al shrugged. “She wanted the carnation because of the gown she was wearing. When I came in with this white orchid, she was irked because it didn’t go with what she was wearing.”

Al goes on to describe, in detail, Helen’s pink dress, which floors her. “Oh my gosh, you remember it?” exclaimed Helen. “Damn right I do,” replied Al. “She didn’t like me because of my looks; she liked me because of my feet. It took me a while to ■

El Dorado County District 1 Supervisor John Hidahl has been appointed as a director and District 2 Supervisor Lori Parlin as an alternate to the Pioneer Community Energy Board of Directors. Previously the El Dorado County Board JOHN HIDAHL of Supervisors requested membership in Pioneer Community Energy, a community choice aggregation and alternative to PG&E, and approved an amended and restated joint exercise of powers agreement with Pioneer. One element of the agreement was the county’s participation on the Pioneer Board of Directors. The Pioneer JPA consists of seven voting members, two from Placer County and one each from the cities of Auburn, Colfax, Lincoln, Loomis and Rocklin. The city of Placerville also voted to join the JPA and will have an opportunity to appoint one person to serve ■
