Looking to create a one-of-a-kind celebration for your big day that will captivate each of your guests’ attention? Sam Sheehy can help with that. From intimate weddings alongside the coast to iconic tented parties in the woods, owner and lead planner Sheehy, of The Perfect Match in southern New Hampshire, creates custom, luxury wedding day memories for untraditional couples with an elevated, yet approachable edge. With a focus on details like florals or color-drenched tablescapes that intentionally contribute to the effortless beauty of an event, Sheehy lives for the moments when couples and their guests walk into a space and feel something—whether it’s warmth, delight, nostalgia, or that sparkle of joy that lingers long after the last bottle of Champagne has been popped.
Q : What trends are you loving for 2026? How can couples incorporate these trends into their own celebrations without feeling too trendy?
A : I’m seeing lots of statement drapery with layering and fun colors, especially in tented receptions. It’s being used as backdrops for bands, ceremonies, and lounge sets as a way to create texture and visual interest while complementing your color scheme. (Hint: Not everything has to be white!) I try to encourage my couples to worry less about what’s trendy and more about what they actually like. If they look back at their wedding in 20 years and think it looks like it’s from 2026, that’s okay—that’s kind of the point—to capture a moment in time!
Q : How can couples up their wow factor for their wedding?
A : Two words—guest experience! If you want your guests to walk away from your wedding feeling wowed, think about unique experiences they can enjoy throughout the day that

they aren’t seeing everywhere else. Maybe that’s a custom ice sculpture, a unique welcome gift, a roaming cannoli caddy, or a waffle cart. Find creative ways to elevate the “typical.”
“My opinion: If you wouldn’t go out to dinner with them, they shouldn’t be attending your wedding.”
Q : What are the most important vendors to book, and in what order?
A : Planner first, then venue, then food and beverage. Booking a venue before hiring a planner is like buying a house without a real estate agent. There are likely things we would point out that you may not see at first glance. Once those two are finalized, I like to work on catering and bar, next since it is a large portion of the budget and impacts the neces-
sary rentals. If your venue provides food and beverage in-house, I suggest focusing next on the vendor that is the most important to you.
Q : What are the most common mistakes couples make when planning their wedding, and how can they avoid them?
A : Not having a realistic budget for their vision, thinking they don’t need a planner, and taking on too many DIY projects thinking it will save them money. Spoiler: It won’t!
Q : How do you recommend couples approach the guest list?
A : The guest list should be one of the first things you finalize when you begin planning your wedding. Each guest will have a cost associated with their attendance, so it is important to know the total guest count, not just a rough idea, before looking for a venue or booking any vendors. When it comes to narrowing down the list, I suggest removing anyone you are only inviting out of obligation. My opinion:

If you wouldn’t go out to dinner with them, they shouldn’t be attending your wedding.
Q : What’s the best advice that you can give couples on creating a wedding budget that’s both realistic and reflects their vision for the day?
A : Work with an expert! Working with an experienced wedding planner is the best way to create a realistic wedding budget. Your planner can listen to your vision and tell you what the expected cost will be. Unfortunately, much of the information you find online about the cost of a wedding is outdated and misleading to couples. It can also be helpful to gather real quotes from vendors in your area before signing any contracts so that you can see the whole picture before over-spending.
Q : What are three things every couple should prioritize when planning their wedding and why?
A : Hiring a team of vendors that they trust, intentionally carving out time on the wedding day to spend with your new spouse, thoughtfully thinking through the guest experience and any possible pain points.
Q : How do you help couples personalize their wedding to make it unique to them?
A : I like to take the time to get to know my couples—what they do for work, how they met, what brings them joy. This helps us to determine what elements of their wedding to prioritize and which ones don’t feel true to them.

with wedding photographer Maxine Cadman
Maxine Cadman is all about love stories inspired by beautiful moments. As a wedding and elopement photographer, Cadman loves combining a mix of nostalgic film and fine-art photography to create images that feel cinematic and deeply personal. With each click of the shutter, she preserves the feeling behind every memory, creating a legacy that honors the intimacy and individuality of each couple’s story.
Q : What is your unique style of photography?
A : My approach is documentary at its core, with an artful, editorial sensibility. Every wedding is unique. I adapt my equipment and editing to reflect each couple and the thoughtful, personal choices they’ve made in shaping their day. I focus on real moments as they unfold, nothing overly posed or forced, while paying close attention to light, composition and emotion. The result feels nostalgic, honest and timeless, allowing couples to see themselves as they truly felt on their wedding day.
Q : What is your opinion on doing a “first look” for photos? Why or why not?
A : I love first looks, but I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fitsall answer. For many couples, a first look creates a quiet, grounding moment together and allows the day to unfold with less pressure. That said, some couples deeply value the tradition of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony, and that moment can be incredibly powerful too. The best choice is always the one that feels most true to you.

Q : Are there any trends that you have been seeing that you are looking forward to for 2026?
A : I’m seeing couples move away from trends for trend’s sake and toward choices rooted in meaning and experience. Intimate timelines, personal locations, and days that feel less performative and more intentional are becoming more common. I also love the return to timeless details like film photography, heirloom pieces, and celebrations that feel deeply personal rather than overly curated.
Q : How do you build a relationship with your couples?
A : It begins long before the wedding day. It begins through conversations, thoughtful planning and especially during the engagement session. I see that session as a dry run. It's an opportunity for couples to experience what it feels like to be photographed without pressure and to realize they don’t need to “perform” for the camera.
My goal is for couples to never feel like they’re in front of a camera. There are so many vulnerable, emotional moments. I do my best work when couples feel like a trusted friend is in the room with them, not a crew member.
“ The more your day reflects who you are, the more meaningful it will feel and look in your final image gallery.”
Q : What tips do you have for couples feeling more relaxed in front of the camera?
A : Preparation starts with understanding what helps you feel calm in everyday stressful situations. Whether it’s conversation, movement, a quiet moment or even sharing a drink together, those same tools can be incredibly helpful when being photographed. Communicating this with your photographer allows them to shape the experience around what makes you feel most at ease.
Q : What are some common photography mistakes that couples make, and how can they ensure they get the best photos on their wedding day?
A : Overpacking the timeline with too many shot requests or location changes, which can add unnecessary pressure to the day. It’s

also helpful not to rely on your photographer to run the timeline. When a photographer is managing logistics, like remembering when to pop Champagne, it can pull focus away from capturing the moments themselves.
Building in breathing room and having a planner or coordinator guide the flow of the day allows your photographer to stay present and observant. With a thoughtful timeline and a trusted team, the most meaningful, unscripted moments naturally rise to the surface.
Q: Any final advice for the engaged couple?
A : Design your wedding around what matters most to you and not expectations. The more your day reflects who you are, the more meaningful it will feel and look in your final image gallery. Years from now, what you’ll cherish most are images that reflect the emotions, the connections, and the moments you didn’t even realize were happening at the time.

with florist Heidi Cook
From Bethlehem, New Hampshire to Boston, Massachusetts and everywhere in between, Mountain Roots owner Heidi Cook’s artfully crafted floral designs have decorated weddings and events throughout New England. Cook works out of her studio in the White Mountains, creating farm-grown bouquets and lush, timeless floral works of art with a creative twist from fresh seasonal flowers. Her artistic style reflects the nature surrounding her farm, where she tells the story of the beauty flowers bring.
Q : What do you love most about what you do?
A : I really love all aspects of my work, from starting seeds in the spring and growing flowers, to seeing my farm-grown blooms translated into clients' dream wedding arrangements. It’s all very satisfying! I’d say my favorite moment is when there’s a really tight, cohesive wedding plan, with a beautiful reception venue, linen, candles and table details. When the flowers are placed and everything ties together, the space is so breathtaking. It’s really special to be a part of creating that wedding day magic!
Q : What do you wish couples knew about the floral process?
A : It is incredibly labor intensive! I think it’s easy to romanticize floral design, but the reality is hours of admin tasks (on average there are 40 emails between me and each client), long days on my feet, stress sourcing flowers and combating weather, and endless problem-solving. I love what I do, but by the end of the wedding season, I am completely burnt out!

“If couples really want a specific flower, consider getting married in that flower’s season.”
Q : What’s the most popular floral trend this year and how can couples incorporate it into their design without feeling too trendy?
A: I’m loving this new fun fusion of architectural designs with airy wildflowers. I’m seeing lots of draping amaranth, cosmos and antique hydrangeas. I’ve also noticed two popular color schemes: plum/antique shades and a mix of white/cream/lime green. I’d say to avoid falling into a style that comes and goes, evaluate what you are drawn to in these trends. Keep those aspects and make the rest your own. Local flowers will also never go out of style! If there’s a vibe you like, have your florist, or farmer-florist, utilize that as inspiration and allow them to use seasonal flowers throughout. You will have a one-of-a-kind design that will be remembered forever.
Q : Why are wedding flowers so expensive?
A : Flowers are just so pricey! Each bloom requires hours of work to grow, harvest and process. They have to be picked at just the right time, be free of any imperfection and properly stored before using. The designs florists create take labor, time, years of practice and experience, investment into quality vases and mechanics, refrigeration, transportation, freelance setup labor, cleanup and next-day breakdown.
Q : What advice would you give couples who are starting the planning process?
A : I think the first step is to figure out your budget and overall wedding aesthetic. Everything will come back to those two factors. Your budget will determine your venue, guest count and all other associated costs, including florals! If you have a limited budget but want an opulent party, consider a smaller wedding that is full of special details. Larger weddings cost more all around, so

keep that in mind when booking a venue and inviting guests. You want to make sure there is room in the budget for the other wedding vendors.
Q: How do you approach seasonal availability when it comes to flowers, and what should couples keep in mind when selecting blooms for different times of year?
A: If couples are really committed to using local flowers in their wedding, they must understand that there will be variability when it comes to which flowers are available at any moment. I will always make sure there are flowers in their desired palette and style, but I can’t always guarantee what they will be! If couples really want a specific flower, consider getting married in that flower’s season. For example, peonies — you have to get married in June. Dahlias — choose August and September.

Katelyn (Kate) DiTullio isn’t like a regular stationer, she’s a “cool” stationer. A creative studio specializing in custom stationery and event details, owner DiTullio, of Kate’s Calligraphy, believes that intentional details make every couple’s special day unforgettable. From funky invitation suites to oversized, immersive modern signage, DiTullio blends her type-A precision with a love for artistry, using high-quality, sustainable materials to achieve the creative vision of every couples’ dreams.
Q : What tips do you have for couples as they start thinking about their stationery?
A : Consider how the stationery or signage will impact your guests’ experience. Does it greet them or help them know what’s next? Does it help alleviate questions? Does it provide instructions or save them time? Whatever the reason for the stationery or signage, it should feel intentional to your wedding and flow of the day.
“For
classic elements that never feel dated? Calligraphy. ”
Q : What are your favorite parts of the design process?
A : I have two favorite parts—the initial mockups and then the client reveal. Kicking off the initial mockups is where you are settling into the story of the couple and the design. What shapes to use? What colors to use? What patterns to play with? It’s so fun and creatively inspiring, and I love getting to just try things out in this space. Then you get to send them off for their first round of feedback and

hitting ‘send’ feels invigorating. The collaborative micro-edits with your couple during the process always yields the best results.
Q : How can couples make their invitations feel personal without overcomplicating the process or the budget?
A : Decide if you have it within your budget to hire a custom stationer or if semi-custom options are the best for you. If you choose a custom stationer, I recommend selecting someone you feel will creatively meet your vision by looking through their portfolio and having a consultation to meet them. That alignment and connection will help take the pressure off of you regarding the process, style, etc. Be clear about what you feel comfortable spending once you learn more about their design process, since this will help your stationer in the design process, which saves you time on rounds of edits. Semi-custom options allow you to pop your information into a design that you already love from a stationer you want to work with, so while there is a little less customization in the design, the decision-making
fatigue can take a backseat and it is still a gorgeous result!
Q : What trends are you loving right now and which classic elements will never feel dated?
A : I am loving the originality in die cuts and shapes happening in the stationery and signage world. There is also a sense of boldness with color play that feels so fresh and unexpected. For classic elements that never feel dated? Calligraphy. Calligraphy is a timeless art, and in a world that pushes digital, there is something to be said for the artistry and intentionality of handwritten elements.
Q : If you could give couples just one piece of advice about their wedding stationery, what would it be?
A : Don’t forget to have some stationery created for keepsakes! This includes separate place cards, menus, invitations, napkins—you name it. These can be used in flat lay photos, so you’ll always have professional photos of them and also ensures that you can have something tangible at home that brings you back to the best day ever!

Synonymous with free-spirited adventures and beautiful blooms, summer is the ideal season for a weekend getaway. With intimate weddings on the rise, more couples are envisioning their wedding as a weekend-long retreat. Kristen Delano of Milliken Manor invited wedding planner Brittany Sinwald of Brittany S Events and her team of New Hampshire-based vendors to create a summer-inspired design that’s sure to dazzle and delight guests.

The couple welcomes the wedding weekend with grand mountain views of Mount Monadnock from right outside their window. Built in 1790, Milliken Manor is rich in history as Jaffrey’s first brick building. From the open-air terrace and sprawling field to the large pavilion and private swimming pool, Milliken Manor is a premier destination for intimate weddings.
“Think of your wedding as more than a one-day event,” says Sinwald. “It can be an exciting wedding weekend getaway for you and your guests, especially when you can stay and play on the property.”

Imprinted with delicate florals, the bride’s dress features a flattering boned bodice, creating a fitted silhouette. To add visual drama to the formal ceremony look, a hand-embroidered lace veil extends beyond the dress train. The bride’s loose curls and understated makeup allow the dress and yellow ribboned bridal bouquet to shine.

To warmly welcome guests, signage creator Kate DiTullio of Kate’s Calligraphy designs an eye-catching multi-paneled wall display. Featuring a classic striped pattern and script monogram for the couple, the display doubles as the perfect photo wall backdrop for guests to interact with.
“Large-scale installations are great for guest engagement and provide a ‘wow’ moment,” says DiTullio.
Thanks to floral designer Naomi Azriel of Nectar & Vessel, a towering lemon sculpture adds a flair of whimsy.

With a funky, wild, and natureforward aesthetic, Azriel follows her instincts in creating floral installations that break the mold. The bar station’s planter arrangement plays with height and features orange marigolds and dahlias—the same bright hue as the couple’s signature cocktail.
Bountiful in-season fruits and assorted melons make a bold visual statement on the table. Inspired by the beauty of Queen Lime Series zinnia flowers, Azriel surrounds the bright blooms with pink gladiolas, pink lemonade cosmos and shimmer celosia. “I hoped everything would feel fresh, alive and so delicious that you would just want to take a bite,” says Azriel.
Embracing a “more is more” maximalist design, the untamed florals create a lush backdrop for other tablescape elements to take center stage.
From floral-patterned linens to multi-colored glassware—all selected by Sinwald—the table setting is a feast for the eyes. Sitting atop layered chargers is the scalloped-edged calligraphed menu from DiTullio, perfectly tying in the stripe pattern and calligraphy style from the wall display.
A fuchsia pink tassel is attached to the wavy-cut placecard, providing a fun tactile experience for guests.
“When you create a more maximalist design, it’s important to find vendors who align with your vision,” says DiTullio. “The right vendors can help you reduce decision fatigue while prioritizing the details you love.”
And what could be more charming than placing ethically sourced taxidermied butterflies throughout the table’s centerpiece? “I wanted the butterflies to look as if they were sipping on the sweet nectar of the locally grown watermelons,” says Azriel.
Inspired by fringe-lined umbrellas, pastry chef Blayre Wright of Flouretta Sweet brings this poolside detail into her four-tiered fondant cake’s fluting and texture. Sugar pearls add elegance to the delicious blueberry lemon and thyme cake. “I always say to pick the flavor you want on your wedding day, even if it’s unique,” says Wright.
Opting for a sunshine yellow accent color, Wright sources florals, greenery and even citrus fruits from Azriel as she thoughtfully arranges them on the vertical face. “Vendors love it when you give them permission to play,” says Wright.

Exchanging her lace-lined cathedral veil for a pair of KOHV sunglasses, the bride is ready to party with her groom and guests all weekend long. A shimmery cocktail dress and strappy yellow heels finish the look. All that’s left to do is raise a glass of Aperol Spritz and toast the bride and groom!

Four curated bachelorette itineraries for the New Hampshire bride
It’s the golden age of bachelorette parties. No longer one-night-only events, these soirées have evolved into full weekend getaways—complete with elevated favors, matching outfits and custom décor, all centered around a theme. From disco cowgirl to Shrek and even coastal grandma, we took four of the season’s most popular bachelorette trends and gave them a distinctly New Hampshire twist. Trade neon bar crawls for rosé on a sunset cruise across Lake Winni, and think oysters along the Seacoast instead of party-bus clichés. Follow our curated itineraries to a tee, or treat them as a jumping-off point to plan a personalized, unforgettable celebration that finally makes it out of the group chat.
