MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Good Evening Friends, Welcome to the 36th Annual Cornerstone Awards. We have a great night ahead for you. I am honored to be your newly elected president of such an important trade association in New Hampshire. Thank you for your confidence in me and our organization. Tonight, we celebrate the very best of our colleagues in the residential construction market, showcasing 28 different categories. Also, once again, the event is sold out. This reflects an active and engaged membership. In the last 2-plus years, we have added just shy of 200 new members.

Over the last year, we’ve hosted presidential candidates for small group meetings talking about the housing industry. Three presidential candidates have suggested allowing Pell Grants to be applicable to students attending trade schools. That’s because of us; it happens because YOU participate in the process. We will continue to fight for the full funding of the weatherization monies needed to help our low-income neighbors. We are actively opposing efforts in Concord to adopt expensive building and energy codes. These code changes aren’t requested by the consumer or even life safety issues. These are efforts brought forward by people who want to enact certain social policies, weaponized by legislation and code changes. We will fight every day to keep homes in NH attainable, safe and affordable for our neighbors and clients. We are tracking additional funding to assist the development of both senior and workforce housing. We’re even in discussion with our federal delegation about downpayment assistance for first responders, so they can live in the towns they serve. We actively work with NH Fish and Game and the Department of Environmental Services to help cut red tape and work collaboratively, so we can create housing and keep our natural habitat for the next generations. One meeting alone saved one of our members over $250,000 in additional site work. I’m focused, excited and energized to expand our membership especially in the more rural portions of our state. We can all celebrate tonight, but the work to become even better and more effective begins bright and early tomorrow morning.
