MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Good Evening Friends,
Tonight marks the 35th Annual Cornerstone Awards and we are thrilled to be back together, face to face, for a great evening celebrating the very best NH Home Builders offer to our friends, family, customers and clients.
Tonight’s entrants reflect the diversity within our Association and from every corner of our great State. You will also see some changes within the program to reflect our dynamic Association. Along with the eighteen building and design awards, our friends at NHSAVES will be presenting their annual “Drive to NetZero Building Contest” award.
This evening we also celebrate those individuals who have stepped forward to offer their leadership skills through participation on our Board of Directors. I was asked to stay on for a second term as President but we have a bench of leaders who will bring us to new heights of achievement and offer their own vision of the NHHBA. I am very excited for what 2023 will bring to the NHHBA. Surely there will be challenges but also points of pride and victory.
In the last 21 months, our membership has grown over 30%. We are back to in-person meetings and networking opportunities. One of the goals I set forth as President was to expand our educational outreach. We overachieved in this goal. Thanks to our friends at NHSAVES, the NHHBA offered 17 different classes throughout the entire State reaching over 600 people working in the residential building industry, all at no cost to the builders and contractors.
2022 saw the successful launch of an Apprenticeship in Carpentry program in conjunction with the federal Department of Labor, our friends at ABC NH/VT, the State of New Hampshire and the Manchester Community College. We are bringing skilled and trained carpenters into the workforce right now.
We are only as successful as our membership. I know we have the best members in the Country and we have an award to prove it! The NAHB recognized us as one of the very few states that saw double-digit membership growth in 2022 and that is because of YOU. You are the ones telling your friends and colleagues about NHHBA. You, each and every individual, are key to our continued success. THANK YOU for participating. Some have been with NHHBA since its creation in the 1950s and I look forward to celebrating our 100th Anniversary with all of you in 2052!
