The McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch reached a major milestone with the completion of Phase 1. This transformation includes six newly renovated full-size turf fields with variable configurations, two new restroom/ concession buildings, digital screens, fencing, scoreboards, and more. This premier regional destination is already making waves, drawing teams from across the country and even internationally.
Excitingly, the complex hosted the inaugural McKinney International Cup 2025 back in April, welcoming teams from over 10 countries and multiple states, with around 250 teams to showcase their talent.
But we’re not stopping there! Phase 2 of the project is set to begin soon, renovating the remaining six fields, a stadiumsized grass field with irrigation, a new playground, new water mist feature, trail connectivity with a bridge over Watters Creek, and more. It is estimated to be completed in 2026. The future of McKinney Soccer is brighter than ever!

A UNIQUE PROJECT TO PRESERVE A LEGACY
The City of McKinney embarked on a unique project to transform a fallen pecan tree into a breathtaking work of art. The city partnered with renowned tree-carving artist Rob Banda to create an intricate sculpture that celebrates McKinney’s rich history and natural beauty.
SYMBOLIC ELEMENTS OF THE CARVING
Completed in Fall 2024, the carving reflects elements that define Finch Park’s legacy:
• Collin McKinney’s Cabin: Honoring the city’s namesake
• Animals: Recognizing the city’s zoo that once graced Finch Park
• Native Texas Wildflowers and Bugs: Showcasing the park’s natural beauty
A PARK WITH A RICH HISTORY
Finch Park is one of the city’s oldest parks, established in the early 1900s. The park once featured the city’s first swimming pool - a simple hole filled with water - and a zoo that attracted tourists to see squirrels, possums, porcupines, a talking crow, and a black bear.
A UNIQUE TRANSFORMATION IN MCKINNEY
“This project is a perfect example of McKinney being unique by nature,” said Amy Kinkade, Director of Parks and Recreation. “By transforming this damaged tree into a work of art, we are preserving its legacy and creating something meaningful for future generations to enjoy.”
A LASTING TRIBUTE TO ART AND NATURE
Made possible through a grant from the McKinney Arts Commission, this extraordinary carving now stands as a living tribute to the park’s history and McKinney’s deep appreciation for art and nature.

The only acceptable forms of proof include a valid driver’s license or state identification card or a current electric, gas, water or trash bill that shows your address. Resident rates are only available to those who live within the city limits of McKinney.
