LITTLE FREE LIBRARY ON CAMPUS McKee Library is proud to sponsor Southern Adventist University’s Little Free Library.
A Little Free Library is now located across from the Prayer Garden on the promenade. This little library provides the campus community with access to free books. Users are encouraged to take a book and leave a book for another individual to enjoy. About the Organization The mission of Little Free Library, a nonprofit organization, is to inspire a love for
reading, build community, and spark creativity. With over 50,000 Little Free Libraries located in over 70 countries worldwide, millions of books are exchanged each year. From Vault A digitized copy of an 1847 State of Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations Seaman’s Certificate is available for viewing on KnowledgeExchange@Southern.
About the Document Seaman Joshua Hopkins received this Seaman’s Protection Certificate on November 17, 1847 from the state of Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations. Details regarding his physical appearance are noted on the document. Seaman protection certificates were given to American sailors to protect them from being impressed by the British. This document was donated to McKee Library in 2017 in memory of Dr. Benjamin McArthur.

Following the keynote, there will be a total of four breakout sessions throughout the day, as well as a poster session held in Iles Gymnasium from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
