RESEARCH GRANT FOR STUDENTS & FACULTY

Applications for this year’s grant are due by Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Every year, the Center for the Study of 19th Century America is able to give two grants of up to $1,200 to scholars who are researching an aspect of 19th century American history. This money is intended to be used for travel expenses to libraries or archives within the United States. The Center supports research by Southern Adventist University undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty, whose work relies on materials that include rare books, archives, media, and artifacts. Please consider applying to this grant and encourage your students to do so as well. Any facet of the 19th century will be considered, making this grant available to all majors and disciplines. Eligibility Requirements All applicants must be a Southern Adventist University student or faculty with a research project related to 19th century America. Students must have the endorsement of a Southern Adventist University faculty member Grant winners are asked to upload their final research paper to Southern Adventist University’s institutional repository, KnowledgeExchange@Southern (www. southern.edu/knowledgeexchange) within one year of the grant award. completing the application form, research proposal, and a detailed budget breakdown with total of all the travel expenses you will likely incur. Students must also provide a letter of recommendation from the faculty member who is mentoring them in their research. Applications are due by Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Questions?
