Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living Written by Shauna Niequist Recommended by Katie McGrath BV4647.S48 N54 2016 Not your average selfhelp book, Present over Perfect encourages readers to try something new. Instead of focusing on what needs fixing in our lives, the author suggests that we simply enjoy our lives as they are. Being present means fully enjoying each moment, without worrying that someone else might be doing or what we could do better. It also means actually taking time for the things and people that mean the most to us – even at the expense of social climbing, career advancement, or being ultra slim and fit. Not to say that we should all become couch potatoes, but that we should be judicious about the things to which we give our time, choosing those activities which make us whole: closer to our families, comfortable with ourselves, connected to Christ.
