LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES AT LIBRARY Changes are in effect at McKee Library as Learning Support Services moved to the library’s Lincoln Library on the third floor and provides a new level of service for students.
Learning Support Services has relocated to the 3rd floor of McKee Library under the leadership of Sonja Fordham. Learning Support Services (LSS) includes Tutoring Services and Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS). Appointments can be made on the library’s website. Tutoring Services Tutoring Services offers free peer tutoring for the
majority of lower division courses. Of the 339 tutoring appointments scheduled in January 2017, 95% of the appointments were for nursing classes, general science classes, and statistics. Tutoring is also available to help students with time management, study skills, reading skills, and ACT preparation. Tutoring Services PASS is a program that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions to improve student retention and increase student success within targeted historically difficult courses. Study sessions are regularly scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. The sessions are facilitated by student leaders who have previously done well in the course and who attend all class lectures.

We Will Be Free: Overlanding in Africa and Around South America Written by Graeme Bell Recommended by Katie McGrath G516 .B45 2015 Have you ever dreamed of walking away from normal life and traveling all day, every day? Did you know that not only are there people who do this, but also there are families – married people with kids – who live a full-time nomadic lifestyle? These people are called Overlanders, and the group includes the Bell family, who drive around the planet in their Land Rover seeking adventure, friendship, new experiences, and a good place to barbeque. Written in casual, conversational style, this is the first-person narrative of the Bell family’s first two tours: Africa and South America. In the pages of this book, Bell takes you with the family as they slow down and live life a whole new way. No, they aren’t rich, and yes, they are still on the road.
